It depends...

This manual (bag) awning was a pain in the a**...

The power awning On our Roo is great. I've never had a problem with adjustability, but then again, I usually just push the button, tighten the screws on the arms, and ignore it until we leave or the winds get to be more than I'm comfortable with.

I'm sure the manual type that allow for it to be extended by simply pulling a tether are nearly as simple to use as my power awning, so I'm not against those. In fairness, mine is probably just another thing that is prone to break/fail... But, so far I do not regret the option/upgrade. 2 years so far without an issue.

One of our requirements when buying an RV was to be sure that very few systems required extra maintenance or were overly complicated. So I chose manual. It's about leisure, ya know! But to others, leisure is a remote in one hand and a phone to call the repairman in another!

Had power awnings for the last 7 yrs on 2 trailers and not had a single problem. Love the remote control thanks to FT Turbs and RHuser.

I have a few of the awning brackets with me read to ship if someone wants to make their own poles.
