Power tongue jack and Suv hatch
Has anyone ever seen or had their power tongue jack rotated 90 degrees to allow the suv hatch to open? I seem to have the need to do that..... basically the switch and motor assembly would need to be facing the drivers or passengers side, instead of forward.

Many electric jacks can just have the head rotated while every thing else stays in place. Check your manual or go online to see if yours can do this.

I was able to rotate the motor head 180, to clear my truck's tailgate.
It's an UF 3500 jack.

I haven't taken it apart to see how to do that. Is it just a friction clamp under the plastic covers? Or should I just take the covers off and see myself since I don't remember the make and model.

You should be able to unbolt and turn the unit and rebolt facing the side.

What's the procedure for rotating it 180 degrees ? I have interference with the SUV lift gate
That's my model number. Anyone know why they all have different letters ?

I may be missing something, however why can't you turn the whole jack 90 degrees where it comes through the A frame and re bolt?

Well we could. It's a 3 bolt pattern so we would have to drill new holes in the flange. We are trying to avoid that so it's less intrusive, so if we can unscrew a few motor or gearbox screws and rotate there, it would be a cleaner look.

Ok. What's involved with rotating only the power head 180 degrees ? Just loosen a few screws and twist or is it more involved ?

I just went to rotate it yesterday. I can't rotate 90 only 180. The block is rectangular and so is the bolt pattern. Therefore I didn't rotate but if some one would want to rotate 180..... Put the jack in the retracted state with no load on it. Then remove the plastic covers. Leave them hang from the wires, just don't short anything out. Now there are 4 M8 SHCS that need removed. Pull up on the head assembly. Once loose pull up far enough to rotate 180. Put it all back together and done. If your handy I'd say 30 -60 mins from getting the tools out to putting them away.
