Propane/CO detectors

Anyone have any problems with faulty detectors in their Roo?? I'm on my 2nd one and seems to have the same problem. It chirps and signals low voltage even tho my batteries are reading 11.7v....usually occurs at 4am...

Probably nothing wrong with the detectors if your battery is down to 11.7 volts. 11.7 volts means you only have about 30% left on battery. See the 12 volt side of life.

Yep, battery was too discharged, therefore the chirps.
Anything below 50%, can shorten the battery's life.

Mine does that. I wish there was a way to shut the thing off (thanks for the alert; I'll switch over batteries in a couple of hours once the sun comes up).

Thanx for the help...I actually spoke to the manufacturer of the detector, and it shouldn't start chirping until 7v or less..I am by no means a battery guy, in fact, it hurts my head..lol..but just doesn't make a lot of sense to me...

I finally disconnected mine after the same $%#^&*!! problem, as yours. Previous owner replaced it once from what I understand...installed a CO detector in bed area of my Solera and will use my nose for the LP part. Never had a problem w/o all this stuff
in my previous TT (Airstream) for the 20 yrs. I owned it! Seems to be a problem with
the manfuacturer of the LP\CO detector. Too damned sensitive?

I had the same problem. Propane detector started going off at 11 at night in a state park in Massachusetts. Had to run the tv for a half hour to charge batteries. Lucky for me I had half bottle chardonary and fire wood to keep me occupied. Lol. Also had issues with Co detector, the wife's hair spray caused the Co detector to go off. Turned on fans and it stopped. Smoke detector, removed batteries every time I use the grill or the stove it goes off. Weather the fans are on or off windows open or closed still the smoke detector goes off. Gurrrr! So all 3 detectors have been a real pain.

So I'm now on my 3rd detector...different manufacturer than the one that comes with the new Roos...ran down to 8v....no issues...thank god....

Which manufacturer did you go with? Any problems with installation?

Battery is Low

Why is your battery so low? It should be around 13-14.5 v. You are shorting the life of your battery a lot by not keeping it charged up. If you are not camping and parking your unit, plug it in at home or disconnect the battery. You 'can' run almost everything in your unit with no battery and only use the convert, but it is not good on your converter. Also, if you are camping when it is colder and want to use the furnace, you must have a good battery to fire the furnace up. A low/ shorted out battery, even if it 'measures' 13.5 voltage, because the converter is 'charging' it, will still not have the 'reserve' power needed to fire up the furnace.

I primarily dry camp...so I live off my 12v which are new and healthy. When I'm not camping, my batteries are on a maintainer...I ran them low to test my new detector...it worked great..
