Haha...I don't have that option...I never even remember to turn the propane on until my bunk is covering it. It takes some serious flexibility to get those valves on with the bunk over it!

Use an associative mental trick. Take something low profile but noticeable, like a brightly colored hair tie, and put it on one of the handles for the front bunk. Next time you camp, when you grab that handle, you will see the hair tie, and mentally your first reaction will be "What the ...?" then you will remember why you put the hair tie on it, and it will jog your memory to turn on the propane.

I do stuff like that all the time. I always put a big hair clip on the steering wheel of whatever vehicle I am changing oil in. That way, if I get interrupted, I don't drive it till I know I have the plug installed and oil in the engine. (yes, I did do that once). Its a small thing, but it really helps.

That is so simple it is brilliant. In a full year of using my Roo I have yet to remember to turn on the gas before lowering the bunk. Brilliant!

When I leave I am always so focused on remembering the tv antenna it is like everything else is a blur. Your zip tie idea would help me coming and going.

I have learned while traveling to flip mine around and keep the thumbscrews fairly tight, and for this reason I will check it every time now 😳

Just to close this out in case anyone else loses theirs...the Camco lid is an exact replacement. No modifications needed at all.
