We move mattress forward not leaving them attached. Then they fold perfect.

What do you mean by "side ones"?
PUGs fit just on top of the tent ends.

Do you mean the one that wraps around the inside? I use ecofoil in the windows its like reflected but a little thicker.

Yes, in looking at the site that sells them you can buy inserts for the sides, is that necessary?

Yes, you can buy the inserts, but many of us just buy a roll of the reflectix or ecofoil, make patterns, and custom fit them to fit in the zippered window areas of the bunk ends.
I believe the inserts help quite a bit, not sure if necessary, though

Whether you use Reflectix in the windows or PUGs' wrap-around liner, they'll help if you camp in hot or cold temps.

No problem. One person has to be on inside to hold up mattress for a few minutes while outside person closes. Then we have a slide out so it hold mattress right on ledge.
