My wife and I looked at several campers and kept circling back to the 23ikss. For us there nothing else seemed to fit our needs. Some day when we retire, we may need to get a larger truck and go with a fifth wheel. The only downfall to me, owning a hybrid will be noise sometimes but it does come with a hide a bed so we can simply close the ends and sleep on it.

Camped in Las Vegas last July for a couple of days and temperature was close to 110F.
I used Pugs and we have the 15K air.
It worked well.
I'm sure w/o PUGS would be impossible to keep the camper livable during the day.

PUGS and ecofoil/reflectix and you will have everything the hard side campers offer...plus the benefit of quickly converting to an open air camping experience.

I'll take dry Nevada heat over southern high humidity heat any day. Lot of difference. Learning best how to use the Reflectix is to put it on the sunny side & if need be the shady side can have the windows open to help with circulation.

How much time does it take to set up pugs? Do you use a step stool to attach the top?

No more than 5 minutes an end for the super high wind ones.

I carry one of these.

I also have bent aluminum drip edges I made for above the bunk doors, and I use 4 pony spring clamps to clamp the top of the pug to the drip edge.

I want to sew and design my own, so I can make them easier to attach. My hands are not good at squeezing things, or pickle jars, so not sure about clamps. Was going to try Velcro at the top, clips and cords on the sides.

Does the reflective side of the reflective material go facing inside or outside, or are both sides the same? I found another insulating material on Amazon that is more economical, but insulating more than reflective.

Reflective side out. Some people claim reflective side in for cooler weather but the owner of popupgizmos will tell you it makes No difference.

On another forum, many people made their own. Most realized after the fact they spent more making them than they could of bought them for, and the gizmos last longer.

I actually averaged $9 a blanket, if I remember. The bungee cord, and cord ends were more pricey. I have industrial strength Velcro, and seamstress abilities, just no time. The blankets were the same brand name ones I would have bought in a sporting goods store. I have a 183, so I'm talking x3.

I also have windshield reflectors from the dollar store I was going to use in my pop up, they just don't cover the whole end or side shape of the bunks.

So are people slipping the reflective pieces inside their zippered screen flaps? Or are they covering the whole inside walls on their bunks and velcroing them?

The reflectix slipped in between the screen and inner panel is more of a cool weather thing. They do however do a lot when you have sun hitting the tent side in the summer for cooling.

As far as the liners that line the entire inside of the tent and are held with Velcro they are too much work for me. My goal when getting to a campsite is to get a beer in my hand and start turning wood to ashes as fast as possible.

When I had my Roo 23ikss, if I was in a lot of sun I used to close up the ends during the days ( a bit of a time killer and pain) but it helped keep the cool air inside the Roo, especially when the sun hits the tent ends and heats the air inside the Camper. I never did pugs but closing the ends up if they are in direct sunlight will help a lot
