Thanks again, all. I guess I'll keep an eye on it. It seems strange that it cooled into the 30's regularly until the thermistor bounced off. Maybe we're just opening the door too much. I appreciate your assistance.

I'm probably pointing out the obvious, but:

Not only does the slider move the thermistor up and down, the thermistor slides up and down inside the slider. So you may have the slider where you used to put it, but the thermistor may no longer be in the same place in the slider. Ultimately, it's the position of the thermistor, not the slider, that counts.

That's a good point. I had forgotten...mine had done the same thing. I had to hold the wire and make sure they moved together when I adjusted mine. The slider moved, but the probe didn't.

With me its always a good idea to state the obvious, but this time I was aware of that and watched the location of the thermistor. Again, thanks to all who responded.

If you've got the thermistor back in the proper spot, it's possible you've damaged it.

Can anyone take their slider off and post a picture of how the thermistor fits in the slider?
I am having a similar problem but I don't see a right way to put the sensor in the clip.

I visited a major RV repair center and the technician placed a piece of double face tape inside the slider and fastened the sensor to the tape. Works in my unit!

This may be a solution to your problems. I have in writing from Dometic that having this installed will NOT void the warranty on MY unit. You may want to contact them about the same. The product also states it should be installed by a professional, but easy enough for most to do.

This was Dometic's response:

"David,

No problem, you can have this installed and it will not affect the warranty. I just wanted to ensure you did not have any out of pocket expenses while you are within your warranty period. "

Now maybe "having it installed" and "installing it" might be two different things and a way for them to back out of warranty but you can figure it out. I have not installed one of these yet as my fridge (which has temp control buttons) does a good job so the thermister is not a problem for me.

Well this explains alot. Mine has been sitting in the tray below since day one. I though it was supposed to be this way and thought the whole "slide" system was odd.

Does anyone have a picture of how the bulb should be positioned in the slide?
