No, it won't open flush because of the awning. If the awning is out, it won't go more than a couple inches farther than it goes now. If the awning were rolled up, it would go farther, but still hit the arm that is against the side of the trailer.
I thought this was a terrible design at first too. Growing up my parents had a MH and a couple trailers - all of them had doors that opened all the way and you latched them to the side of the rv. But, after having the Roo for a while, I like this setup on the door. And the gas spring that holds it works really well. There aren't any sharp corners and even with a crowd and lots of kids running around, it seems to be fine.
Edit: Actually since you have the 233S the door is in the middle so it might go all the way flush. Most of the other floorplans have the door at one end of the awning...
