ROO battery disconnect simple question

I have never checked to see how it's wired so here's a simple question:

When you use the disconnect switch to kill battery power to the camper can/does the converter still charge the battery if shore power is plugged in?

As Cavie said. But be aware that there are often some things that are NOT disconnected. Things like the tongue jack and slides are often still connected. The LP/CO detector may also still be connected. What's connected and what's not seems to be different on each model. I believe someone even posted once that his radio was still connected.

Things with their own switches, like the tongue jack and slides, won't hurt anything. But if your LP/CO detector is still on, it will kill your battery eventually.

I didn't ask the question very well but I was sent this answer:
When you are plugged into shore power using the disconnect also disconnects your batteries from the charging circuit of your power, meaning that even if the rig is plugged into shore power, your batteries will not charge.

I was hoping the charging circuit to the battery would still be active. It would be pretty easy to wire up a circuit that way.

I guess I'll just pull the battery and put it my charging station with my boat & motorcycle batteries.
Thanks!

If you want the battery to charge while plugged just switch it on. No need to pull it to charge IF you have power to your trailer.

If it was only me going in the trailer while stored I'd be OK with that but that's not the case.
In reality if the battery is fully charged and is in fact disconnected, it should be good for a few months. Just trying to make it fail safe.

The only way to be completely sure the battery will NOT discharge during storage is to disconnect one of the battery leads (+). I usually leave mine plugged in while in storage next to my garage. The battery is NOT drained because the converter then is always on keeping those parasitic loads going.

I am NOT so sure the disconnect switch turns off the charging circuit... it seems to me I have parked in storage with disconnect switch both on and off and battery always charged... I think...

ALSO be aware that there is a manual push button fuse located under the trailer near the tongue. Mine is located at a junction box installed just under the front frame. When tripped this takes the battery out-of-circuit completely. The button is tiny and the only way you know it is popped is too push it!

Hope this helps

Hmm - never thought about this before but it makes sense. If your battery kill switch is off not allowing any power from the batteries then how would any power make it to the batteries.

Positive pole will work but standard 12vDC safety practice is to disconnect the Negative (-) battery pole -- or route it to a simple weatherproof marine On/Off switch. This wire is grounded to the trailer frame and kills all power. And besides there are probably 4 or 5 wires connected to my battery Positive pole but just the one ground wire.

My Roo didn't have a factory switch so I mounted a Blue Sea switch on the outside of the plastic battery box. Red/Green indicators let me conform it's Off before I drive off. Yep, stop, get back out, and turn it off! The LP detector and radio memory will kill the standard Group 24 battery in a little over two weeks. Switched Off my fully charged battery will be at about 70% charged after November - April storage in cold weather.
