I just picked up my Roo and the mattresses are way thinner than the ones we had in our 14 year old pop up.

Is it a single layer innerspring without foam on the top? Or double layer? What was the production date of your trailer?

The factory reportedly had some of the earlier stock available and used those up. I'm told all trailers being built now have the new mattress. As for when that cutoff date was, I have no clue. A dealer salesman I corresponded with said January 1, but that's not the impression I got from FR production folks.

With respect to the description that it "adjusts to the height difference" I interpret that as meaning it's wedge shaped at the edge with the hinge. That would make the rear mattress different than the front mattress.

I have not seen it personally but confirmed through a FR dealer that all models produced since January have the new mattress. They have some models with the new mattresses on their lot. I haven't confirmed that January start date, either, but did confirm through FR that all new production uses it.

Through correspondence with the parts department I confirmed that a new style mattress is available for purchase, but it's pricey: $566.12 each + $40 for a crate + shipping.
Our camper is manufactured end of Feb 2014 and there still is a drop in the mattress. I place two foam sheets under bed to make it level. A design flaw I'm not happy with.

we got a 3" topper rom camping world for our bunk, but not the kids. It's makes a huge difference. I incase the bottom of the topper in a full sheet, then put the cover on and top that with a queen sheet, which wraps round both mattesses. I find that the foam topper is sticky and hard to move around.

Our camper 23SS was made in April 2014 it is a 2015 VIN. The mattress does make up for the difference in height at where the mattress folds. As for being comfortable. I don't feel the height difference with my mattress but do feel the coil springs (I am 280 lbs and 6ft3in) so I just put a simple 1" memory foam topper on the mattress and it is a lot more comfortable (cant feel the springs).
