So how long were the screws? The walls look so thin I'm scared I will go through to other side Or screw something I shouldn't? Or that without a stud things will fall out?

I don't remember how long the screws were. We just eyeball'd it. Maybe 1/2 inch? As my husband screwed them in, I watched on the other side of the wall to make sure it did not go through. There is some room inbetween the panels for the screws to go. If you use enough screws along the brackets, they will distribute the weight enough to no pull out when you place your shelves on them. We've had it for a yr. now and love it. This mod is def worth the effort for us. BTW-if you haven't opened your camper yet this year....go check...ALL our bed tents were holding water on the inside!!! Mattresses were ruined, panels were rippled, carpet wet. Thankfully it's still under warranty.

I used 1" screws and posted a picture of the screws used in the mod. The brackets eat up a bunch of that 1'' as the holes are recessed slightly. As nofitpitchin says the weight distributes itself along all four brackets and there is no concern of them coming off the wall.

You did a great job! In lieu of shelf liners, you could always use baskets or small storage boxes on the shelves!

So you used 1 inch screws? Is there enough clearance so the screw doesn't come out the other side? We have the same camper as you and I just order the brackets. Love how you made the space useful!!!

I used 1 inch screws yes. The brackets are made in a way that when screwed in the screws dont actually go thru the walls the entire inch. You actually need the one inch to get thru the bracket into the wall and get it to hold. I hope that makes sense. Once you see the bracket you'll get a visual of what I mean.

As for baskets I use them in there because otherwise when stopping and starting items slide forward and backward. Before I bought the baskets I had items push into the door and open it and fall out. The baskets solved that problem. I can take a picture and include that at some point.

Its a very practical mod and has worked out very well for us. The wood we used really makes it look like it belongs in there and was mfg that way. That part I really like.

Sorry for a silly question. But the boards you used for the shelves are they a particle board that was cut to fix and then lined w/ contact paper that has the cherry wood color?

Not to hijack the thread but I did this mod on my 19SS recently and used command strips to attach the shelf brackets instead of screws. This makes the shelves completely removable and takes the anxiety out of putting holes in the walls. I used the command strips that are like velcro and filled in the back of the brackets with pieces of wood (the brackets are a U-shaped strip so I filled in the U where I attached the command strips). The weight of the shelves is in the downward direction so you just need something to hold the brackets vertical. Here is a picture.

No silly questions. The boards were purchased from Home Depot. They are shelving. I purchased the ones that were deep enough to go all the way back and then when I cut to length made sure that an intact side was facing out. They came in a cherry color and match the cherry in the camper perfectly. I've had people who have seen it think that it came from Forest River like that. Its that seamless of a mod.

PineForestCamper- we are installing the same shelving mod you did today. I'm thinking about making a netting that velcro around the top hanging bar and velcro on the bottom of last shelf for travel.

We did it! Only we decided to use a sheet of sanded plywood. It is very strong and much lighter than the shelving. May line each shelf with the non-skid shelf liner.
Will be nice to have a place for clothes.

Nice job. If you want it to match the cherry you can apply some stain and poly. I use baskets in there to avoid the slide forward with some of the items.
