Roof fan

We order our Roo with just the standard fan in the bathroom. When we picked up our camper the Roo had a fan in the front near the front bunk. Didn't pay or opt for this option. My question is the vent fan in the bathroom has a cover Maxxair but the one up front doesn't. Is this normal? I would think if they put a cover over one they would put it over both.

Here is the cover used in the bathroom:

The cover is an add on you can get another cover for about $100 for the Maxxair. My trailer had no covers adding them now. Was told if there was a fan you need to get the Maxxair because the vent is larger than the normal ones. Other Vents you can get covers from WalMart for $20. I like the idea of being able to open vents when it rains.

I think the 2nd fan is now standard on Roo's. My 2012 Roo 19 only has one, and no Maxxair or any other kind of cover.

I think you got a deal. Smile and keep your mouth shut!

My 2013 Roo came with just one. Put the 2nd one on myself, was no biggie

EDIT: but I completely agree, why don't they just install both at the factory??

My 2013 didn't come with any covers on the vents. I went ahead and installed 2 maxxair II.

My 2014 - 233S did not come with a cover on either fan. I had the dealer add them before I took delivery.

Have to say our 2013 21SS did not come with the two covers. Either and opted for the Maxairs glad we went this way allows us to keep the vents open and not having to worry about rain.

That's what odd to me. How did one get up there?? When it wasn't order. Not that I'm complaining but makes me wonder. And then why not cover the second one.

We will install the cover ourselves for the front.

Idk - maybe the dealer took it off to sell me 2?

Bob1510a sounds like you should of had a cover for the bathroom fan from factory. Found this in the online 2014 Roo Brochure from Forest River:

Create-A-Breeze Three Speed Fantastic Fan with Vent Cover
=>> Standard for Roo
Extra Create-a-Breeze Fan
=>> Standard (I thought this was an option but I was wrong. Just doesn't make sense why they can't cover it like the first one.

Oh well. New project.

That's exactly how ours came. 2 fans, but only a cover on the bathroom vent.

I'm guessing maybe they figure they need to give you one cover in the bathroom because they recommend always venting that if the shower is in use, or just in geneneral to prevent condensation and you wouldn't be able to vent it in the rain.

My advice is to pay the extra for hinged cover!
The fan below will get grungy in a couple years and you will need to
remove the cover to clean underneath.
Hinges are a great "option".

and Happy Camping!

BTW- installing a maxxair cover is easy DIY job.
Hint. Dealers and many of us use sheet metal screws to install the
brackets rather than the screws and nuts that are included. It's easier
that way.

FYI, my Maxxair covers are held on w/ 4 cotter pins. Comes off in seconds, no hinge necessary.

AWESOME!
I must have the early versions. I have to take out screws to get them
up and off for cleaning.

Funny, mine is only a year old, but I just looked at their website to find a picture, and this years model looks like it has hinges! Or rather, they changed the pin orientation so that if you pull 2, the other 2 act like hinges.

Progress...gotta love it!

If the fan is a Create-a-Breeze, you can get by with a standard cover (what we have). You don't need to spend the big bucks for a MaxxAir cover.

My 2013 23ss came with two fans, one cover on the bathroom fan. I had the dealer install a second cover a couple of months ago when the Roo was in the shop for repairs (front bed door).
