Rough drive to our campsite this evening!

We left a bit later than I had hoped so we were caught in the prime time rush hour north of Houston.

Wow.

Drivers these days are rude, I get that, but I don't recall ever having to really make my way through some bad traffic.

We aren't even on the interstate at this one point. Bumper to bumper traffic. Car 4 spots in front stalls out. I can't get over one lane. I sit and sit and sit. Nobody would let me over.

I finally get a chance - car creeping up, I've got plenty of room to slowly pull over and around the disabled vehicle.

The slow car speeds up and starts blowing their horn. Unreal.

She then proceeds to tell me I'm number one with her hand. I nearly lost it. I might have lost it lol.

Wow. Just thought I'd share.

I hope your trip got a lot better once you arrived at your campsite. Camping is a great antidote for reality.

I just love it when someone tells me I'm #1 in their book, I blow them a kiss to say "Thanks"...

The response is so warm and fuzzy.......

YUP I absolutely LOVE to smile and wave at those kind folks telling me I am number one! 1beachbum said it best...I program myself to hold my spot and let all those idiots fly around me like fools while I dream of the first fine frosty beverage to be in my hand while sitting in my camp chair under my awning a sweet camping spot!

I told the car load of girls that I loved them all and blew them a kiss. My wife was so proud.

The camping was a bit better at times, and not so good at others. My son dropped an iPad - cracked screen. My wife's bike suffered some damage - rear derailleur broke some how.

The actual camping (family time) was great! The good news is the a/c kept us nice and comfortable in mid 90 temps when we needed it. My son and I were able to watch the Nascar Kentucky race Saturday evening, while my wife read a book.

The mornings were perfect - sippin' on coffee, looking out at the lake. Incredibly peaceful.

The dog - was just enjoying it, as always.

I ran into the situation coming back from Florida on Wednesday. I left Florida that morning and hit Houston rush hour traffic. Accident in my lane and trying to get around the accident no one would let me into the other lane. I start getting over and cars would come up on my side. I finally just kept going over until the car stop.

Folks now days are idiots. It's about them as they think they own the road. Make these folks take a drivers test and we would have lot less idiots on the road. Later RJD

Here are a couple of pictures of the site. I didn't bother putting out our camping rug as we were dealing with a steep drop off. Those suckers get slick at times. Better safe than sorry!

The Roo is in need of a good ole bath. I hope to take care of that this weekend.

I'll admit that I am a raging psychopath wishing death and suffering on vehicular idiots when driving normally. But when I tow the camper, I have tried very hard to cultivate a calm, serene "live and let live" mentality, simply because I don't want to arrive so bent outta shape that I cannot relax and enjoy myself for hours.

However, there are times, when decency breaks down, that I am forced to adopt the attitude of "the blinker is not me asking permission. The blinker is me telling you I'm coming over and it's in your best interest not to be there when I arrive"

Then again, a jacked up diesel Excursion that has had a WHOLE lot of money dumped into the engine generally makes short work of any motoring 'disagreements'

Tim, I hear ya.
I have to admit of also being the same way.
When we got the Roo, I ended being "Zen", because I was towing and needed to stay calm and alert. I found that most of the idiot drivers no longer bothered me.
Except for those that came close to causing me to have an accident.

There's a law?

I thought it was just people being to cheap to get the turn signal switch option....

I told my DW when we got 5er, that I was to be calmer when driving with the road idiots we see while traveling. It works on a 96% range. It is a lot easier on me and her. I still tow our race car trailer and keep the same attitude.
I am getting older!!!!
