I use a Coleman Road Trip (the blue one), but wish I'd bought a Weber. Road Trip doesn't have enough height under the hood to do a pork loin. Is great for burgers or steaks. I find the water tray to be a pain to take care of. Also have a Weber Smoky Joe for ribs and chicken if its just the 2 of us. Otherwise cook on the fire pit if its clean enough.
I have a Weber Smoky Mountain smoker that's the real deal for BBQ. I use at home for briskets, turkeys pork shoulders and ribs and I'm going to see if I can squeeze it into the back of the truck. My camper came with the RVQ and it actually works decent - pain to clean and only has one burner.

the Roo/Shamrock hybrids usually came with Sidekick Grills, not RVQ grills.
what year and model of Roo/Shamrock do you have?

by the way, Zwicker, those grills you mentioned at the end of your post, are all high pressure grills and will not work with the trailer propane pigtail since it's low pressure.
at least without doing some modifications.

Sorry, could be a Sidekick. My old 2008 Shamrock had, I recall, an RVQ. Old one had a side bracket mount to the camper that detached in the middle of cooking (good times). New one has a bumper mounted swing-out bracket that at least holds. Regardless, with either one, the grease goes everywhere except into the drip pan,

I've had a Coleman Roadtrip for 4 years now but just upgraded to a Weber Q2000. I found the Coleman hard to keep clean - the burner "pan" is attached to the cover and screwed into the body of the grill. To really clean it well, the pan/cover assembly needs to be removed. Kind of a pain and time consuming. No disassembly required to clean the Weber. Also always never liked the shallow lid on the Roadtrip. We pan grill veggies almost every dinner, and the grill lid doesn't close, even with shallow grill pans. Love the Weber's deep lid, no complaints so far.

I have the Coleman Road Trip (Blue one) and yes, I modified the regulator to use with the pigtail. Works like a charm.

Hopefully, this will make some sense. That's why I'm including pictures. They seem to work better than me trying to explain it.

Also hope it will help a folks out there. I've been asked several times at camp sites how I did it.

One note. You do not need to use an additional hose. You can plug right into the camper pigtail. I just happen to like putting the grill anywhere I want and that's why I have an extra hose.

This is the hose I use.

I split the regulator. This is a task and a half because it will feel as if it is welded together. It will eventually get lose and you'll be able to split it.

The cost from Home Depot was about whopping $6.00. Not exactly certain since this was about a year ago. Trust me, it works like a charm. As I mentioned, the hardest part was splitting from the regulator.

Hope this helps. Happy Grilling.

I use the stainless steel Camco Olympus. A direct replacement for the RVQ style grill, and a little pricey, but I have used it for 4 years and wouldn't give it up. I used it on my popup and when I got the 2015 Roo I sold the new factory grill with the pop-up and kept the Olympus.

We had the Coleman Roadtrip (red) and agree with other posters that it is hard to clean. Also found it so much larger when folded than the sidekick, which coincidentally cooks better and more evenly. This may be due to the low flow of the Roo, but we are very happy with the sidekick BBQ.

I have the Coleman Road Trip (Blue one)

It uses water in the bottom for easier clean up. I have the griddle option and the stove burner option. I have not modified it to work with a standard 20 lb propane tank yet, or the trailers quick connect. I will have to look into that mod.

We use the RVQ. It wasn't an option that I would have ordered, but it came with our Shamrock and now that I've used it for a year, I'm glad we have it. It has some hot spots but once I got the hang of cooking on it the results are good.

I have the Weber. Works well for us and also use it as a portable grille away from the camper.
