Sewer Hose

Why do people add a pvc sewer hose storage mod? My Roo fits the sewer hose inside the rear bumper. Isn't that what the rear bumper is for?

Some hose do not fit, my Rhino hose barely fit IF it was set just right. The bumper also does not drain as well and sometimes people will have it rust out. I also did not like the idea of sewage just sitting inside the thing.

Indeed, that's why those end caps come off. However, some folks don't like the thought of a wet stinky slinky residing inside a steel bumper, which often results in that stinky slinky accumulating some of the ferric oxide (rust) that can develop inside a steel bumper. Other concerns are that the bumper will rust out prematurely if employed to store the hose. We steel bumper advocates will periodically swab the interior of the bumper with a generous application of rust preventative paint.

Some new RVs are coming off the line with aluminum bumpers and that might be related to the aforementioned rust issue.

Yep, we got the 15 foot Rhino in one end and the contingency 5 footer in the other end. They JUST fit. Some days ya gotta be holding your tongue just right to get em in. Steel bumper is holding up just fine.

Another common reason is that there are often sharp metal projections inside the bumper (remnants from welding and/or cutting) that can cut your hose. A cut/compromised slinky is no fun. . .

No it is not...

One more reason.. And a good one.... WHY NOT? Sometimes you need to do something JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN!!

Sewer Hose

I store my valterra one right in the bumper, had the same hose for about 5 years now, I always rinse the hose out after each use, no cuts, tears or no smell. But everyone has their opinion

The inside of the bumpers are very abrasive from rust, debris, etc and will wear holes in the slinky.

I store my $5 dump hose in the bumper. I use this 90% of the time as we seldom have sewer at site. Lasted for 2 trailers and 4 years now. I drilled holes in the bumper to allow water to drain out.

I figured it had something to do with either rust or sanitation. My slinky fits in the bumper fine so I'll probably just stick with it there for now.
