Sewer hose support?

Show me/ talk to me about how you prop up your sewer hose to keep everything flowing... downhill. Any good products, or is this a K.I.S.S. thing where we should just use blocks of wood, etc...

I use a Camco sewer hose support (I think it's called a sidewinder). Works well. But, I only use it when hooked up to full hook ups. I don't use it when just dumping at the dump station. Easier to just pull up close and keep the hose as short as possible.

There are several styles of sewer hose supports. The Camco sidewinder is plastic (Amazon-$31.26). Some are made of aluminum. I understand they are required in California RV parks. Here is a Camco plastic and one made of alumium.

Right... yes I meant with hookups, not at the dump station.
Currently camping with hookups and the sewer pipe sticks up a good 6 inches above the ground, and we're parked RIGHT next to it, so the hose doesn't have much room. Realizing that when we dump on the last day, we're going to have to prop it up with ... whatever blocks and things we have.
I saw the Camco sidewinder thing in different lengths but wanted to ask here if it's worth it.

When you first use it, it can be a pain to get it positioned the way you want it, but it does the job. Sometimes there will still be a low spot, but you just deal with that when you disconnect by lifting the hose and thoroughly draining it if needed.

I use a plastic gutter, I cut them to multiple lengths, I also made plastic supports different heights, one of the best of things I ever did!

Maybe it's just me, but I tried one of these and when I pulled the valve it fell over, right back to CW it went.

They do tend to be tippy if you don't stretch it out. Once stretched out, I found it to be quite stable.

Never used one. Might use a leveling block once in a blue moon.

I built an adjustable "ladder" out of PVC.

Seems if you use a gutter, you still need something to support it at each end. What do you support it with?

For full hookup sites, I went in a different direction and put together a Sewer Solution system. You can buy it as a complete kit or individual parts. I went the individual part road (Part # SS04, SS05, & SS06) and instead of the hose provided in the kit and possibly an extention, I bought a 75 foot "Farm & Ranch" 3/4 inch garden hose. The Sewer Solution setup incorporates a water jet macerator which breaks up solids and pushes them thru the hose.

I used about 50 feet of the garden hose for the sewage line and the rest to feed the water jet macerator. Hopefully, I'm never on a site that I need more length than that. Any unneeded hose length is coiled neatly under my trailer slideout.

After a number of uses, I've had no issues with it. As yet, I haven't been on a site where the campground sewer input was higher than the connection on my TT, so haven't tested it in that scenario. Though that may well work successfully because you can used pressurized water to get flow thru the hose before cracking open the dump valve and it may then work like a siphon. If I recall, the advert for SS says it can be used with up to 200 feet of hose on level ground.

What I like most about this is the hose is close to indestructible. There are no "ridges" in the hose to trap gunk. I've also found that by turning the water jet back toward the trailer (lever built into the trailer side connection), I really clean out the area of the tank valves. First couple of uses, I was surprised at how much more "stuff" came out after I thought I had done a good job with the black tank flusher. Also, I never have the somewhat dirty hose to deal with because after dumping any tank, I close the dump valve and flush the hose with clean water via the macertor water jet. As a result, I really can dump my tanks in any order - don't need to use grey water to flush after dumping the black tank. Which is really nice if I get a full black tank and reasonably empty grey.

Downside - draining thru a 3/4 inch hose does take longer. But I have gone to doing the major dump the evening before departure while doing other stuff (beer, dinner, relaxing) and then just a quick clean out the next morning if we are heading home.

FWIW, I could have bought better quality version of the stuff they sell as part SS05 at one of the big box stores - it's a backflow preventer and a quick disconnect / water valve. I'll upgrade when parts break...

Before anybody gets upset, I also carry a conventional slinky for use at dump stations when others are lined up behind me. Don't want to slow down "progress".

Sorry. What is "this?"

10' gutter from Lowe's Home Improvement... sawed off 3' to leave 7' piece... carry both. I use two cedar blocks -- flat for one height (4" or so), on edge for a different height (7" or so), on end for taller (12" or so).

Thanks. Sounds like similar storage footprint as a Sidewinder, plus the gutters. I already have a Sidewinder, was just wondering about the gutter setup. I've put "ends" on my gutter, so not particularly useful as a support.

I wasn't industrious enough to put ends on mine; ends would make it a little easier to get out of my 5"x5" vinyl post sleeve but the open ends works better for my hose support use.
