Red face Shamrock 183WFLT Bed system

Hi there! I am brand new to the world of rv's and also new to this site. We just purchased our first trailer, a 2011 Shamrock 183. The unit has 3 cable system tent style beds. I am curious...does anyone have any experience with these types of beds and how durable are they? I am a bit on the heavy side (just a bit...lol) and I don't want to damage anything. Also, how are they in terms of leaking, etc?? Any help anyone can offer is greatly appreciated :-)

Hi there and welcome. Good to have you on the forum. Both the Shamrock and Roo sections are good for you. They are the same trailers.

Your trailer is the little brother to mine. The three bunks are great. You got kids?

The bunks are very sturdy. 1,000 lbs plus IIRC.

The cables are much more convenient than the old pole system.

As for leaks. Most are fine but some have troubles. You can read their various posts.

You can help to prevent leaks with two simple things: learn how to properly close the bunk ends so that nothing is pinched in between the seals. If the trailer is brand new, than season the tent ends to allow the seams to swell. A 2011 may already have been through that process.

Don't worry about leaks until if and when they happen. If they do, jump on them immediately and fix.

Happy camping!

suggest you read through posts in Expandable/Hybrid section. lots of info about the tent ends and things to watch out for.
you'll find more that way, instead of waiting for other members to post.

the bunk ends can handle 1000-1200lbs. of weight.
the Shamrock is the twin of the Rockwood Roo, which is a much bigger seller than the Shamrock, so all Roo posts will apply to Shamrocks.

RVW has videos on how to open and close the bunk ends. any of of the Roo hybrid videos are good to watch.
