Should Interior Lights Run on Battery?
We had a power outage the other night for several hours and I thought we'll just go sit in the trailer for awhile and use the lights running off of battery. Although the battery appears to be charged non of the interior lights worked. Is this normal?
Had a nice nice campfire at home instead.

Yes, the lights should run off the battery unless:
1. Your battery is discharged
2. You have a battery disconnect somewhere and it is turned to not allow power from the battery
3. Your resettable fuse that is located usually on the frame rail has tripped
This link may help with #3.

Everything 12 volts should run off your battery (lights are 12 volt). Perhaps you had your battery disconnect engaged (if you have one).

Lights and fridge should run off the battery and the fridge should start using propane.
Battery disconnect switch?
You unit model would be a help.

Forgot to include 2010 21ss
2010 21ss. During the last safety inspection our local dealer replaced the break away switch and I'm wondering if they did something else inadvertently. I will check out wmtires comment/link tomorrow.

As far as I know 2010 Roo/Shamrock hybrids didnt have a factory disconnect switch.
Unless a previous owner installed one.

The break-away switch, if inadvertently pulled, will drain the battery quickly.
If your rig sat for long at the dealer's service department waiting to get a new switch, the battery may have completely discharged and sulfated.
If the trailer hasn't been on power (that would allow the battery to re-charge if the converter is on), there's no guarantee the battery is any good.

My 2014 Shamrock (Roo) has a 12V shut off switch below the fridge. It is a push-pull switch, unmarked and not part of the converter, although it is near it. Pulled out it provides 12V power to everything... pushed in nothing gets 12V power except the electric power jack by the hitch outside.

FIXED
The link in #2 is excellent and I definitely learned a few things. I checked the green 30 amp fuse for continuity and reset the switch. The two 40 amp in the fuse box were also okay. Still no power to lights and fridge when unplugged. A new battery fixed the problem but I wonder why Roo’s indicator lights for battery strength said the battery was fully charged.
Thanks all.

Since a battery can only be truly tested by putting a load on it unless a hydrometer test is done the indicator lights indicate no load battery voltage. That is why the indicator lights showed a fully charged battery.... Because it was.

Was the trailer plugged into shore power when you checked the indicator lights?
If so, it won't show actual battery charge.

Trailer was plugged into 15 amp gfi receptacle sitting in driveway. I realize now the battery was likely bad from day one purchase about one year ago, I could never open or close the slide unless hooked to TV or campsite electricity.
The things you learn.....just realized from reading these forums I have a hot water heater that works off of electricity.
