Sidekick grill no more!

Since DH completed the low pressure modification for the Weber Q, we didn't need the Sidekick grill that came with the camper anymore... DH decided not to try to hang the Q on the rail, we'll just use our folding grill stand. But I wanted another shelf to mount on the long rail so space wasn't wasted! I wasn't willing to pay what FR wanted for it per forum members who had ordered it. So I made one myself!

A large Rubbermaid cutting board that we already had- but I was willing to sacrifice because it didn't fit in the dishwasher, some itty bitty broom clips that we already had http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000BP...ZYL&ref=plSrch
And success!!!

Looks great. I'm seriously considering the conversion on our Weber BabyQ.

Cool. I use a camp chef stove. Might have to make myself one too.

Funny, of all the mods we've done recently, or to either PUP we owned, this one had us most excited, I think. It's the little things.

I am done with the Sidekick as well. The gas orifice from the grill to the gas line connection is very easy to break and has broken twice. I am going with a stand alone and will use this mod as well. Cool thanks.

I have a Weber Q100. Do you run yours on it's own tank? Or did you hook it too the rig? If hooked to the rig, how did you pipe it?

For the low and slow peeps. No mod necessary. Like your setup- looks clean!

Sidekick grill no more!

It's hooked to the low pressure port meant for the 'sidekick' or rvq type grill. DH modified the Weber by removing the regulator, and adding the quick connect male piece (via some sort of coupler). He then got another female quick connect end, and coupled it to the regulator so he can snap it back on and use it with a high pressure source if necessary. I don't have pics right now, but can take them another time.

I have a Q100. But I don't have an outside hookup. So can I cut the line to the stove and put in a tee? Or stick to its own tank. Hate hauling another tank.

Looks like abuse did the Sidekick in, expect the same results for the new one if treated similarly. We've used ours constantly for 3-4 months each of the last 3 yrs and it doesn't look anything like yours. Of course we clean it occasionally.

Put a tee on one of your tanks and run a hose to your grill from there.

Clean the grease at least once a year. No grill is going to last without maintenance

This is what we did on our previous Pop Up that didn't have an auto changeover regulator. Worked well.
