Signing on our new 2016 Roo 233S soon
After much deliberation we decided to pull the trigger on a new 2016 Rockwood Roo 233S.
We have been PUP campers for 8 years, moving up from a Coleman Utah to a Starcraft Centennial 3612, which we really liked. Having a high wall PUP with a microwave, oven A\C good counter space and a bathroom was a great way to explore our home state of Michigan for the roughly 30 days of camping per year. However, the intensive breakdown and set up, lack of storage and growing kids led us to decide to look for greener pastures. My wife insists that her suggestion of checking out an RV show was 'just for something to do'! We like the idea of sleeping under canvas and need more bunk space and storage, and a hybrid was an idea we have had in the back of our minds for a while, so the task became picking a general floorplan and a manufacturer. The Jaycos at the show were nice, but just didn't 'do it' for us.
After much online research we were impressed with the Roo/Shamrock, and although my wife loved the storage/counterspace and island kitchen of the 23IKSS, the only choice for us was the 233S. We could have made a better deal on the late 2015/early 2016 floorplan at a local Shamrock dealer my wife loved the revisions made late in the year. Terrytown RV (about 2 1/2 hours away) had a newly arrived 233S arrive with the preferred color scheme, options and Sapphire package just a couple days before we contacted them and the salesman was incredibly prompt in getting back to us with pictures and information, so we cut the deal! I still need to decide if I want to have a slide topper added as we often camp in state parks with lots of trees. At this point in the process we are very impressed with the dealer and can recommend them.
We sign the paperwork this upcoming Saturday and pick up the camper a couple of weeks later. We have an appointment at the local Ford dealership to check the feasibility of upgrading our tow vehicle tomorrow evening as our Expedition is capable of towing the camper, but it would be close to the limits. After that we look forward to bringing our new camper home and to our first camping trip!
