Silly question on mounting TP holder

Hi all,

This is possibly a silly question, but I'm psyching myself out at the thought of drilling into my new roo's bathroom walls..
I've searched the forums and found a few threads on where people discuss where they put the tp holder and towel holder, but not so much how to do it..
Do I have to look for studs or can you mount/drill anywhere?
If I put the tp holder on the back of the bathroom door can I drill anywhere on the door?
How far apart are the studs? (my stud finder isn't picking up on them too well..probably time for a new one).

Thanks!

I just used the screws that came with the TP holder and put it where I wanted. Others use velcro or double sided tape. I would not worry about hitting a stub in there, not using it as a handle... Hopefully.

Yep, the wall boards are fine for a tp hanger but you do need to be mindful for wires and/or water lines.

Ok thanks! Wallboards good for the generic towel holder they supplied as well?

Hmm, that's a bit more weight especially when two or three damp towels hit it. I'd try to find studs for that.

I use a door hangar for the bath towels (goes over the top lip). A wet towel can be heavy. Have the hand towel on the wall mounted holder.

Yeah I have the over the door towel holder as well. I was thinking about using the towel holder they supplied somewhere near the kitchen and was wondering if the same rules apply with the wallboards being sufficient enough.

If your gonna use it in the kitchen for anything more than a dish towel I would shoot for mounting to a cabinet maybe. I mounted our napkin and paper towel holders to the side of the cabinets. They are solid wood on mine.

You can screw the TP holder to the inside of the lower sink cabinet door, or there is a hanging type that can be hung from the inside of the lower cabinet door.

We all do not want to 'mess up' the newness of what we just bought, but we all want to make some changes to fit our needs. Slowly make the changes, it is your camper. Just don't go so far as to void warranties and then want to 'come back' and have the Dealer 'fix it' back at no cost. All of the wall boards can be replaced if you 'go to far'.... also, hardware stores sell 'plugs' that can be put in the holes if they get wormed out too much and it will look natural. Make the changes you want. Start small and work your way up.

i put our tp holder on the inside of the sink cabinet door, for two reasons.

it protects the tp from getting wet and it won't get bumped into, in a very tight area.

i simply drilled some pilot holes and used the screws that came with the holder.

We used the command hook adhesive with our tp holder, its worked well. I used short, hollow wall anchors for the towel rack.

Screwed mine on the outside of the sink cabinet. Not in the way for our layout.

TP holder stand. It can be a little more accessible that way.

We went with free standing holders for both the paper towels and bathroom tissue. We were told by our PDI guy that the reason they don't install the TP holder is that owners complained too often that "kids broke them off the wall".

Kids aren't a concern in our RV. I just cringed at the thought of pokin'/drillin' holes anywhere in 'er.

Otherwise, 3M and museum putty are this RVer's bestest friend!

We were scared to drill holes in our new TT as well, But after the first, it was nothing for the rest. LOL!

We used pop toggles that are made for thin drywall, they hold 50lbs. Not sure, I need that much, but they work great for the TT walls, We used them for the TP holder, hand towel holder and we hung a hanging shoe holder on the back bathroom wall to hold everything. And it holes it up just fine with everything in there.

You have to drill a hole, use a drill stop so you dont go though the wall. Then fold it so its bent in half in the center, insert in the hole, use the popping pin that comes with it, then screw in your TP holder.

As you see I'm up at 2 am bc I'm worried about my paper towel install. I used small ( maybe 1/2 in screws) and installed mine under the microwave on my 2014 233s. It appears there was
Enough "wood" under the microwave but now worried it was molding I was and that maybe the microwave sits lower in the space then I thought. When I screwed in it did not sound to me like the screws hit metal/the microwave but I'm worried maybe they did and damaged it! Should I be?

The screws will work out over time and down the road you will need to install something in the realm of post #17. Now stop worrying and go back to bed.
