This was my 1st modification upon delivery of our 21SS. The main reason we purchased the 21SS was small footprint w/open floorplan & multiple sleeping areas. Being a tall guy and wanting to maximize the air conditioner cooling capacity in 90º+ temps, I wanted to keep the tents closed when only the wife & I camped. With the sofa layed down I noticed it was the perfect width for a queen air mattress. So I constructed a table 28"x60" with ½" plywood & stair balluster legs. This supports the end of the mattress. It is covered with a drapery panel. It can be dis-assembled, but I found it rides in the trailer assembled upside down fine. I then found I could use the leftover leg material with a wider stance to make the table into a "picnic" table during the day. Just cover with a vinyl table cloth. There is plenty of room on the mattress end & dinette side to exit.
great idea!!
we've only not slept in the bunk ends, a couple of times. overnite in a rest area and during a wind storm thru Nebraska.
but this is definitely something i could do with our 23SS.
Bikendan.....we are using a Coleman brand queen air mattress and a Coleman 12v air pump. It works great and the air conditioner didn't strain on a recent 94º day/nite - although our site was shaded.
