Slide-Out Lock use on '07 21SS...
Does anyone actually use their Slide-out Locks on your 21SS? We just bought an '07 and the previous owner never employed his in transport, but did give them to us to use should we want to use them.
So, do you use your SO locks?
Are you religious about using them?
Do you have any horror stories re: their use, or non-use?

Only use them on long trips, especially when driving curvy roads.

I have slide out locks on my 23ws, i use them any time I tow the camper, In my opinion, if you don't use them you can ad some unneeded stress on the slide. They included them for a reason so I use them, it is my understanding the top of my slide has nothing else holding it in while running down the road. Not sure how yours is but probably the same way.

I used the slide out locks on my '08 23SS, on my '14 Flagstaff 27BESS and now on my '17 Sunseeker. Like the previous poster stated, top doesn't have a mechanism to hold it in. Although, I'm not pleased with the ones that came with my current RV. They look like nothing more than shower curtain rods with rubber tips - not adjustable at all and if they become dislodged, they roll on the top of the slide. One became dislodged and when I took the other two out, DW started the slide and found the remaining slide lock - it had fallen down one side and got stuck between the fascia and the body, pushing the fascia out at the bottom.
I prefer the adjustable - the ends are square and they don't roll. Looking to purchase some in the near future.

They are their for a reason and its called SAFTEY EQUEPMENT use them ( it only takes a minute to put them in) for if you don't and for any reason what so ever the slide comes out and cause a accident or comes out from a accident guess who will be held liable and maybe involved in a lawsuit?

This does not cause damage to the rubber/foam seal on the inside of the fascia? I just put them on for our drive today. It took a little to get them set to hold. These do have the square ends so rolling around does not look to be a problem.

I have problems getting them to seat properly against the back side of the facia board with the rubber/vinyl seal. If I crank them down tight enough to stay put with road movement I worry that I may be harming the seal and/or the facia. Any thoughts from others?

Using slide locks often depends on which slide manufacturer it is.
Some don't require them.

I had three hybrids so far: a Travelstar, a Palomino, and now a Roo 23ws. Never used those bars.....but that's me !!!!

1st of all, welcome to the family!
I too am concerned about where the slide lock meets the seal. I have read where someone had the lock so tight that the facia came off/cracked/warped it. I have never used mine and haven't(knock knock) had any problems with the slide getting off track or extending in transit.
I guess it only takes 1 episode for someone to become a believer.

Both my former HTT Roo and my current TT have the locks and I use them every time the trailer goes anywhere. Just the ride out of the storage spot I have on my cousin's farm has some uneven ground causing the trailer to rock a bit.
I think my current and former slides are/were the Lippert Electric Through the Frame model.

We always put used them on our old 06 Flagstaff TT with Super Slide,,, even thow they always fell out before we got home !!!
Our 2013 Sunseeker 2500TS has 3 slide outs,,, and it came with 1 set of locks that look like little shower curtain rods !!! Not sure which slid out there for,,, maybe the wardrobe slid out ???

They came with our 2011 21SS and we only used them our first year. Frankly they were are real pain - literally - to install. Jamming my forearm between the camper and slide-out was not fun. I stopped using them the second year and never had any issues.
That said, I see nothing wrong with using them. Just don't: - over-tighten them
- ever forget to take them out before you deploy!
Our 23IKSS didn't come with them and the big slide-out's size and mechanism appears to be very similar. Not sure how it's determined whether you should have them.

Typically, there will be a white sticker on the wall above the slide telling you where to place the locks. If you don't have such a sticker, you probably don't need to use locks.

On some of the Roos, 23WS for sure, they are using the LCI above the floor slide. If you do not use the locks the top of the slide is going to move when retracted when you hit bumps or make turns. Maybe not enough that you can tell or see it but move none the less. Its really stressful on the racks and the drive and mounting assemblies that the racks run through. Eventually it will result in the slide being out of alignment.
On some, like the IKSS, one slide is a through the frame, and the other a Schwintek, no lock really needed.
