How are you planning on connecting it?

Alligator clips, bolt on....

You can do it....no different than hooking up a battery charger to it, the charge controller you have will take care of regulating it. Whether or not you'll be happy with it all depends on what you want it to do. 20W isn't a lot of power if you want to extend battery life. Keeping them charged when not in use would work well.

What amount would I need to give battery a full charge after a night of usage?

That depends on you and your trailer.

The more you have the less time it takes for a full charge.

Look at your particular needs as well. I dry camp 2 - 3 times a year, generally in the fall, for 2 - 4 nights at a time. The rest of the time I'm plugged in. I figured that I burned about 20 - 30 Ah a day if I were running the furnace. It's really shady and mostly cloudy in my situation and I calculated 80W of panels would only replace about 50% - 100% of what I was using. It came down to cost....around $400 for solar or $70 for a second battery to accomplish the same thing. If I did it regularly, it would pay for itself in the long run, but not with the 2 - 3 times a year I need it.

so not to confuse others, it's a power CONVERTER, not a power inverter.
your converter is what charges the battery when plugged into shore power or a generator.
all RV's have a converter, but only a few have an inverter from the factory, usually some motorhomes.

I have always kept enough panels that would equaled (+) my total the amp hours of my battery bank. I have a battery bank with 400 (500 gross) amp hours, and I run two, 250 watt solar panels when in use, while boondocking. Never had a problem with this set up. If it gets cloudy, I switch over to the wind generator.

I thought this was going to be a new RV park when I first saw it...
