Solar Panel Connector '16 Roo 233s

Hi all,

I am looking to see if anyone has used a solar panel on their '16 Roo 233s.

Was a solar panel controller or charger needed, or is that also pre wired into the trailer?

Any info or pictures would be awesome!! Thanks!

Boy, if those solar panels weren't so much $ and do more than slow charge the battery, I would be all over getting one for my 233S. Unless I am pricing the panel all wrong I can't see owning one anytime soon. And I'm not a pioneer, I gotta have external power for the air conditioning, very important.

There are lots of good threads here if you search on solar, but the pre-wired setup on the Roo is just wiring. Its designed to work with Zamp portable kits. The Zamp kit has a charge controller built in. The downside to the Zamp is they are very pricey. You can find individual pieces or a kit from other places for less $$. If you want to use the pre-wired plug on the trailer you can find the special connectors on eBay or Amazon.

I have two 100 watt portable panels and a charge controller mounted in the front pass through. Works really well - as long as we find a spot that's not completely covered by trees!

Solar is not the way to run AC. If you dry camp, get a nice generator.

I think I looked and you can just buy the Zamp pigtail to fit the wired plug on you roo, then just wire in any panel manufacturer you want.

I also understand from prior posts that the wiring to zamp connector is pretty small and won't support a lot of current flow.
