Stabilizer Jacks

I knew I had another question :-)

SOmeone mentioned using a drill with an attachment on the end to raise and lower the manual stabilizer jacks on the ROO. I admit it is a bit of a pain to do it manually. Anyone done this? If so, what size is the attachment? DO you just keep a cordless drill in the camper?
Thanks

I used this in the days of my manual cranked stabilizer. Worked like a charm. 3/4" socket with 1/2" adapter

Same here. Kept the drill and socket handy. Way faster and easier.

3/4" socket. I just cut off the end of an old stabilizer jack. You could also use a six sided socket or buy a special one for $5 or $6 from your dealer. One of the biggest time savers there is. Very popular tool for anyone with manual stabs.

I use a 3/8 in drive, 12 inch extension, that I cut the female end off, and a swivel, plus a socket on the end to raise and lower my stabilizers. You don't have to bend over that much when you use it. The extension fits into my Dewalt drill motor.

A cordless drill works great just be sure it has enough amps. I have used a Sears 19.2 cordless drill for years

Once you start doing this, you may get looks of amazement from fellow campers who haven't yet seen it.

My attachment saves time for me. I keep my drill motor in the right front stowage area...start there and work around the stabilizers.

I have the "old style"? Bal jacks that the end of the crank handle looks like a 3/8 male end. I haven't found any kind of drill adapter for them. Anyone know where I could find one? And there is about a 4 in. long tube it has to fit into

What about one of those big Gator Grip sockets?

If you have the old style with the hole, instead of the hex nut end, I used a 1/4" Allen wrench in my drill to raise and lower them.

I just went out and looked at it again. The gatorgrip won't work its female at the jack. The handle end is square like a ratchet extension.

Looks like you could buy an extension (3/8, 1/2 whatever) and cut the tail off, then chuck it into your drill. Would that not work?

Ya if it will fit in the chuck. Don't have drill and extension handy at the moment hopefully it will fit in the chuck and won't have to buy a bigger drill. Thanks.

I started out using a 19.2v screw gun but the twisting hurt my wrists then I bought a 24v impact no more twisting work lot better than my screw gun
