Stabilizers/levelers

We have the 17' Roo and I was wondering about the stabilizers. (we haven't picked it up or gotten the walk thru w/the dealer yet) I thought i read somewhere that the stabs were weight bearing and could level too - am i making that up?

If not, what do you guys use to level side-to-side?

1in x 8in x about 60 in long will bridge both tires and makes a good support. just stack to height needed. each graduation on my bubble level equals about one board thickness of adjustment approximately. 1 x 6 x 48 may work, just measure tire width and the distance to span across between the two tires, if you have two tires on each side.

Most stabilizers are for stabilizing , not leveling.

there are many ways to level, plastic lego blocks, wood blocks, i like the stability of the longer wood that bridges both tiresl

enjoy your camper

i use Lynx Levelers that i got at Walmart for around $30, for the side to side. you can get similar types at Camping World.
the stabs are only good for stabilizing, not leveling.

We use the "Lego" blocks too (Lynx Levelers). We have 2 packs of 10 and a couple of times had them all in use. I like them because they weigh less than lumber and are easier to store and come in their own bag.

The ones that came on our Roo are definitely not for leveling. They stabilize good enough, but if you want a solid non-rocking stabilization, you're going to need a set of chucks that lock between the 2 tires, otherwise you will get a little bit of forward and backward rocking when you step in and out of it. I'm just having a hard time justifying the $60 each from the local rv supply store here. I've seen some folks make their own and they have instructions left behind in this forum.

stabilizers

Yes, definitely do not use for levelling. They will most likely bend and/or break. Don't ask me how I know.

It appears that's a single axle trailer?

If so, you may want to consider this nice little doohicky:

This is a BAL Single Axle Leveler. We used one with the pop-up and it was VERY nice and easy to use. I can't remember what the weight limit was, and I can't seem to find anything right now about it - but it's certainly worth looking into in my opinion!!

You can find it here:

Oh that does look like a cool doohicky! We were never very good about backing onto the pieces of plywood to level, so we're going to have to buy something. getmad, i'll take your word for it. eek.

I'm pretty sure the 17' Roo is a single axle so i can't do the chucks b/w tires. I've heard talk of BAL levelers for pop-ups, can they be used for HTTs too?
