Standard or Super high wind gizmos?

Looking to order Popup gizmos fpr.my 2015 233s. I had Super high wind for my popup. But now am thinking about saving a $125 and going with standard

I bought the super high wind set; and to be honest, I've never camped in the kind of wind that would require such fastening.

I don't use the bungee cords. I put the PUG on the bunk end and use the clamps and just the cords dangle.

Save the money and put it toward something you'll get better enjoyment out of...such as

That's what I was thinking. Always thought it was over kill when I used my popup with them

If you do any beach camping I would recommend the super high wind set, we go to Myrtle Beach several times a year and use them there because of the high winds.

I had the original version PUGs with only the one bungee cord on the end. They worked great but putting on all those clamps was a bit of a nuisance to setup and remove. Definitely a 2 person job. I used 5 clamps per edge, so 15 per bunk door. Several of the clamps busted in the 2 years when had them on our Roo, but they gave me plenty of spares.

Thinking going with the standard with the velcro. I always used the clips on my SHW ones for the pop up anyways.
Save my $125 so I am ordering a Air lift 1000 suspension for the Ram only $88. So still ahead

Is the only difference in the standard, high wind and the super high wind the number of the bungee cords used on them? Otherwise, the material is the same on all of them?

don't know about the bungees but the material is the same for all three.

after what is it... 4 years of PUP/Hybrid ownership I just ordered my first set of Gizmo's. I went with the one bungee high wind setup. I'll put them to use over the 4th weekend.

You should be amazed at the efficiency of the gizmos. Night and day difference - especially down here in Texas during the summer months.

Gizmos along with the reflectix also create a darker sleeping environment during the morning hours.

I have the high wind also. Had all the clips let go once and the bungee kept it from disappearing (like my outside grill cover)

We have the high wind and first time we used them in Georgia we had high winds. They didn't budge. On our way home we had some cool nights and they prevented condensation.


They don't reach to the roof so I purchased some solar blankets to attach to them. I've also read here where some use them on the inside on the bunk end sides to keep in the heat. So, next cool camping night I plan to give them a try.

OK everyone I put the velcro on the camper on the inside on the metal edge where the bunk door closes. Is that right? I am laying down and now thinking that is going to prevent the bunk from closing and sealing. Ugh!!

A pic would help. Many of us are locating the velcro on the bunk 'up underneath on the slanted section' of the bunk end. The velcro doesn't keep the ends from sealing when closing. I'm not sure you could close up the ends without removing the pug though. HTH

JimandChris, we installed the Velcro in the same area as yours. I can close the bunk ends fine with the PUG left hanging from the Velcro (and Reflectix panels left in the window pockets). No issues with sealing and very convenient. However, we do remove all the bedding and mattress toppers first; pretty sure there would not be room if left in place.

That's good to know if we ever have to leave the cg quickly or during a rainstorm. I've been pulling the pugs off and wiping them down. Seems that the birds think the shiny silver pugs are a target, lol.

Just ordered my Super High Wind Pugs from Bob. Should have them by Monday. Probably could have gotten by with just the high wind ones, but like the separate bungy attachments as they looked like a better fit. At least I will be prepared in case we get lots of wind.

Do you all need a step stool to fasten the Velcro or just a stick to attach to the bunkend?


I tried e-mailing Bob twice to ask about an extension for our PUGs and have not received a reply. Now I will try to attach a piece of solar blanket to one end to get complete coverage.

I used a step stool to climb up on the bunk end prior to raising the canvas. We just fold the bunk end back up with the PUG attached and the Reflectix in the window pockets. I think Jim & Chris have been detaching the PUG's, and I think he has a picture of one of the mechanical hands used to re-attach the Velcro.

Bit perplexed with your PUG not covering the whole bunk end. The manufacturer fits them by model. Take a look at the pictures of my High Wind PUG's on the third page of the thread to compare fit to yours. I think Jim & Chris' installation fits a bit 'shorter' than ours as he attached the sewn Velcro to the green or underside of the PUG and folded it over to attach to the trailer, whereas we sewed the Velcro to the silver side and no fold. Anyway, in either case the PUG comfortably covers the whole bunk end roof.

Note the front bunk is typically a different size because of the slope in the trailer front wall, and the front PUG will not fit the other bunk(s) correctly. Were your PUG's ordered for this unit?

Another thing I did to make it easy to fit the PUG's. I removed the supplied plastic hooks from the shock cords. I attached a light carabiner to the sets of cords on each side with a bowline knot; makes it easier to reach under the bunk end and attach the two sets of shock cords together, and the weight of the carabiner keeps the shock cords accessible when under the bunk end. As mentioned in the other thread, the top shock cord is not required with the Velcro attachment, and will actually tend to pull the PUG end off the Velcro; I left the cord in place but did not attach it to the carabiner.

Edit: I just noticed Jim & Chris also used two carabiners per bunk (see the pictures on the first page); here I thought I had a great idea but my powers of observation were just a bit weak!
