What do you guys do for storage? Where do you put it? On grass? Driveway? Stones? Thinking of framing up a temp storage garage out of Pcv pipe and covering roof with that clear plastic roofing sheet stuff? You think it would work?

We leave it in our seasonal CG on gravel that happens to have excellent drainage

Park mine in a 40 x 100 shed.
If it gets windy where you live I'd be careful with a light weight canopy system.

I can not store our unit at our home; so it is stored in a gated locked storage lot on gravel. We put the 5er up on two six foot long 2"X8". We chock all wheels front and back and cover with wheel covers. I also use four cheap cargo straps to keep the wheel coverings in place so they do not blow off in a storm. Wheel are inflated to maximum air pressure and just the front landing gears are extended. The unit is position so rain water will not pool on the roof. Battery disconnect is switched to off and a try-pod support is used to protect king pin and provide additional support if needed.


That's it no other covers are used. They tend to cause wear on the fiver from the elements where they curve over the roof line and sidewalls.

We keep ours at home under one of those metal carports/sheds. Works great. A good cover runs...what...about $400 or so? When I got this it was about $800. I figure it should last longer than a cover and I can just pull right under it when parking, and out when leaving.

I am fortunate to have indoor storage I can rent. It has really paid off because I have been on 3 camping trips this year, and 3 times I have had to put it away soaking wet. Well worth the cost being able to open the ends for a few days in storage.

Ours is kept at home also on a 10' x 26' concrete slab. We have yet to order the Metal Carport. What type of clearance do you have?

My HTT height is 9 1/2' from ground to center of A/C atop roof. A/C sits dead center atop HTT. I was thinking a 12' wide with 10'-11' Roof Pitch Center with possibly 9'-10' legs. Only guesstimating at this moment on my needed clearance until I can get some actual specs from the carport Dealers. Did you get any height recommendations before having installed?

I had a smaller camper when I got the carport, but my 23LB fits with about 3-4" to spare above the AC (it also sits dead center). It takes it all up since the carport is only 21' and my camper is 23'8" from tongue tip to bumper. But, all of the body and roof is under cover.
As for recommendations, I measured the camper and talked to the salesman for the carports to get ideas. The sides obviosly are not as high as the center. I think mine is listed at 11' to the center (12' wide) however it has "crossbeams" for support that run across the center that are about 3' long so that takes away a few inches from the height. I could always remove them if needed. I put 4"x4" posts at the corners and bolted them to the metal legs to help with support.
I can snap a pic tomorrow if you would like to see the clearance.

Thanks Howie.....I would sure appreciate it if you could post a picture. Would give me a better visual of how your carport / HTT clearance looks as well. With my figuring, and with a 12' wide Carport, I am guessing I will only have a minimum of 24" on both sides of the camper if parked dead center under it. My HTT is approx. 7 1/2 ' wide.
I'm hoping the legs, which I know are 5' on center would be spaced enough to allow access into the HTT. I'm going to have to do some more marking and measuring on the pad to check my door clearance.

We keep our 5r in a metal pipe framed garage with canvas roof and sides . It is on grass with good drainage .

Here are a couple pic's. Mine has 9' legs. 11' to the bottom of the tin roof. I lose about 7" from the thickness of the metal framing and the cross member support. That could be removed though. So it is about 10'5" clearance.

Thank you. It is a PERFECT setup! The dimension of my HTT are pretty much identical to your TT ( I googled the stats ) so I can see it fitting nicely under the Carport. Our door is in the same position, so I got a visual of the clearance for the door as well.

BTW, I am loving your Micro Lite. This is one of the TT's we were originally looking at a couple years back. I love the layouts they have in them.

Hmmm , the good news is knowing I can utilize the same carport as yours for our current HTT..... the bad news is now "I know" I can later down the road use it "just in case" we decide to get a Micro Lite.

I would say that is a win-win!

Glad I could help! We love the micro lite so far. This is camper #4 and hopefully the last one for quite a while!
I left the door open so you could see where it was in relation to the legs. I did put some pipe insulation on the leg just to be safe.
