There is a security tab on the unit to allow a chain.

I use mine with an extension cord and tuck the EMS right up under my slide by the tire and out of sight. This also keeps it dry and out of the sun.

How long have you been camping? Our Progressive EMS saved our (electronic) bacon at no less than 5 Campgrounds last year.

In fact, on our new MH we are installing a Hughes Autoformer in line with the Progressive EMS HW.

All it takes is for a brown out to occur in a crowded CG and bye bye A/C (a $1,200 repair job for a 13.5K unit)

Regarding your High Theft Rate - probably not but I deterred by using a metal shackle and cable lock.

Hmmm re-reading you mean safe as far as theft rather than safe as far as good electricity. My Bad

Go with the PI hard wired, you wont regret it. Here's a thread I started when I had the same question after my first RV purchase last year. I hard wired it as Turbs suggested and I couldn't be happier. http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ad.php?t=90442

Since we rarely have hookups, I never have purchased a surge protector.
If we ever move to a bigger trailer and stay in RV parks more, then I would look into getting one.

Don't feel I need one with my Honda 2000i.
