Tank Locks

I have had 2 incidents with jokster's pulling the black tank valve while in a rest stop and at a campground resulting in a nice mess when hooking up the sewer line. Anyone know of a locking system for for the valves?

Keep the tanks empty while towing and the sewer hose connected when in a campground. Also, installing a clear elbow and leaving it on with a cap will alert you to what's waiting for you.

Hook the valve handles to 110 v !

Buy an electric dump valve vs a manual handle ?

He's saying that they pull the handle when it's empty then when hes camping the tank fills and he hadn't realized it was open the whole time .

The clear 'capped' elbow solves both situations. But hooking the slinky up as soon as you get to the campground solves the other.

Lol so if the clear cap is full he's still got the same issue ! only now he can see it's there .
Clear elbow won't help the trickster not pull his handle.

Not to but in, but I will anyways.

With the clear end attached he would know somethings wrong if there is stuff in there. So he would check the tank valve and close it. Less "O'h Sh!$'s" and less mess to clean up...

Again doesn't solve the issue at hand.
Op wants to lock or disable tank valve whilst traveling to and from.
Wouldn't an electric valve gate solve is issue ?

If you don't want to go with turbo's electric shock treatment or the remote control.

I would think you could drill a hole in the handle, get some small gage cable, run it through the handle hole then around the drain pipe, crimp a loop to each end, leaving just enough cable so the handle can not be pulled and put any old pad lock through the two loops...

Yes that's a cheaper alternative .

Here was my solution to that problem Twist-on Valve - Valterra T58 - Sewer Fittings & Adapters - Camping World

It's basically a 3rd valve that twists where the sewer hose is connected. As long as this valve is closed then you really limit any unforeseen spillage when you go to connect your sewer hose. Works like a charm.

Oh yea! That is my solution.

Other advantages include being able to transfer gray water to the black tank in an emergency.

The more I thought about it, I don't think you would even need to drill the hole in the handle. Just place the two loops on the ends of the cable over each side the T handle. Then lock the two loops together. The important thing is slack, not too much in the loops, between the loops or to big loop in the pad lock.

Yes.
As long as the gray tank is full and the black tank is less than half it will work.

Basically, you make sure the end of dump mast valve is closed and open the gray water valve. This fills the dump mast with gray water. Then you open the black water valve for just a few minutes and the flow will be from the mast to the black tank. Close the black tank valve and then the gray valve.

This should transfer 5 or 6 gallons from the gray tank to the black and should extend the time till you have to dump a bit. It will also make sure your black tank is full when you do dump it.

I said this was an emergency procedure since there is always the possibility that solids from the black tank "could" migrate over to your gray tank if not done correctly or you let so much water transfer that there is a back flush into the mast before you can close the gray valve.
