Taught an old dog a new trick this weekend.

Well, two things, actually.

#1, I bet that quite a few of the water leak issues people have can be mitigated doing this one simple thing. If you have leakage with your bunks UP, you may want to think about closing them up with the entry door open.

Yep that's right. My buddy and I have identical 21ssl. I leave my door open whenever I run the slide or put the bunks up or down. I watched him try to store his rear bunk over the weekend and it was like trying to shove a balloon thru a mail slot. After he had it all cinched up, I pointed out where he had canvas pinched in the seal area. It's not easy to see, but when I showed him, he said he would have sworn that the seal area was clear.

I opened his entry door, dropped the bunk and re-closed it. Presto! a good seal all around. He said that is something he never thought about doing. Ya gotta have a way to let all that air out, or its gonna cause you trouble with the canvas.

#2, there is no better way of relaxing than a good quality hammock.

that's my buddy trying out my new hammock.

Tim

Good advice, Tim. You have the new tents (that are completely attached to the bunk), right?

I can really see this happening with the attached tents. I saw these at the Spring RV show and your solution makes sense seeing the design.

YES..we noticed the same thing, with our bunk canvas permanently mounted the trailer is believe it or not pretty darn airtight! As long as you leave the door or roof vents open, closing the bunk ends is easy....you still have to watch the brown canvas (part mounted right on door) to make sure it doesn't fold into the seal, but that is easy to do when the door is open!

I never thought about that. I'm going to try that on our next trip here in a few weeks. Thanks for the tip.

Ours aren't attached but it still sounds like a good idea! I'll definitely try it next trip.

I thought that sounded a little strange when I read it, but last week when I was setting up, I could not push the tent end up. Finally got it, then turned around and noticed the doors and vents were all shut. Good tip - and it apparently goes for setting up too!
