The Good news and bad news

Afternoon all,
It has been a short but awesome time with our camper. But my new retirement opportunity has called me to the Vegas area. I don't foresee much time to camp this coming year and have no idea where I'd store the camper out there ( I would want it out of the sun for sure). As it has been barn kept and babied since it left the dealer. We don't want the camper to just sit in storage.
So as to the bad, I will be selling the 2014 Roo IKSS at a decent price to facilitate the timeline I need to move the camper within.

What have you guys used to sell your campers? Craig's List?, Local paper? Internet?
Is selling on consignment through a dealer a total rip off?

Another good besides the move is, DW is on board now with getting a 5th Wheeler when we go to replace the Roo.

Thanks, going to be gone for a bit, but lurking until I get my replacement rig.

If you have time a consignment takes the hassle out of calls, emails, and showings.... but can take a while. I have always sold everything on KSL (craigslisy). You do have to worry about tire kickers but if priced competitively I have moved everything (Jeep x2, boat, 3 motorcycles) within 2 weeks and dealt only in cash. You do have to deal with people calling that have no intention of buying, showing it to the looky lous, as well as the midnight low ball offer text, then the low baller proceeds to get mad at you when you respectfully decline the ridiculous offer.

Good luck!

I have our 5er listed here, Craigslist and Ebay classifieds. It's a little early yet in this part of the world, so not even tire kickers have inquired - just the harassing 3rd party agents who claim they already have my RV sold.

Good luck with the sale, and enjoy your retirement opportunity!

I can't see where you are located before your move to Vegas. I can tell you if you are in the Texas area PPL Motorhomes has a great consignment sales business model. I have bought and sold through them and they have always been upfront and straightforward in our dealings. Wherever you are located you may be able to find a similar consignment only dealer.

Does not look like you have to unload it quick so I would think consignment is your best option.

The good news: If you sell it yourself, you will probably make more money.

The bad news: You will have to deal with any and all sorts of weirdos.

I have had mixed results with C/L on selling a motorcycle and a jetski, but I would always start there. If it's a no-go, then try consignment.

I set my asking price 10% higher than my absolute bottom line price, and never waver from that bottom price. I tell any buyer who makes a lower offer that xxx dollars is my absolute bottom line, and if I can't get it, I just won't sell. I say it nicely, but firmly and in a matter-of-fact tone. I never got a bad reaction.

I buy/sell a lot of stuff on Craigslist. I am in St. Louis and I put on my ads, "LOCAL FACE TO FACE SALES ONLY, PHONE NUMBERS OUTSIDE THE 314/636/618 AREA CODES WILL BE IGNORED"

I still get a couple out of state scammers that try, but I don't even answer the phone.
