Thoughts on 23RS?

Wife and I are looking at this model and are very intrigued. Does anyone have any thoughts (pros/con) on the rear slide units.

We were all set on a Microlite 25DS, but felt this gave us more options.

Posting in both the Shamrock/Roo forums for more input.

Thanks,
Jack

We are ordering the 25RS, so similar. I love that the bed is huge, my husband was just too tall for most beds in other campers we looked at. Obviously I don't have ours yet though so I can't give you any other input. It also helped that the price we are paying for a 2013 was less then what used campers with less options are going for.

We've got a 2009 21RS, so a bit different, but still the rear slide. We love it! Tows short, but lives large is our motto (OK, a 21 footer isn't large by any stretch, but with the rear slide it has all the room we need!) We tow it with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I wouldn't want to tow anything longer, so having a short trailer with a rear slide is a great combination for us!

Good luck & enjoy!

Hi guys & gals, I thought that I would give my 2 cents worth of info on our 2012 Roo 23RS. This is my first posting and we have had quite abit of camping experience with the Roo products...this is our 3rd Roo product! We have had 3 Hybrids prior: 1st was a '07 Antiqua18, 2nd a Roo19 (115 nights), 3rd a Roo 21SS...and now our expandable 23RS! We have just stayed our 104th night in the RS!! We really love our RS...we find it the perfect RV to take to Florida each year, spending at least 2-3 mths in it each season...in fact we are down here in Florida right now!! The only two issues/concerns that we have is the LP detector seems to be going off quite randomly (propane now off, lines cleared & vent opened) & wondering if the rear bedroom slide needs to have stabilizers under it for support?? I do put 2 under ours, it seems strange hanging out in mid-air with out them...I weigh 280lbs and my sweetie weighs 138lbs=418 lbs!! BUT the RV DID NOT come with any, so my question is: DO WE NEED STABILIZERS UNDER OUR SLIDE????? Other than those 2 concerns we love the trailer, it pulls well, very stable on the road & perfect size for my wife and I to enjoy our camping experiences!! I tow with a 2007 Dodge Durango SLT 5.7L Hemi and also have a Bully Dog Tuner ($500.00 installed) that I can program to add 20 HP extra/20lbs torque or with Premium gas 40 HP/40lbs Torque!! It works great....take care!!

BIGSTAN, DON'T put stabilizers under the slideout. somewhere in your paperwork should be something telling you NOT to.
all RV manufacturers strongly warn owners not to do this. in fact, if you do and something happens, your warranty will be voided.

back in the early days of slideouts, there were many growing pains but modern slideouts are engineered to not require such things.

We are looking at getting one of these right now.

I wonder if any owners can give me the approximate locations of the tanks?

I am all worried about the tongue weight now and I want to know if I will be able to balance the trailer a bit and unload some tongue weight if needed, the book says 499 but that means almost nothing really.

NOT that I want to be that guy who knows nothing and just hook up and go not knowing if I'm over and not caring, but I'm not.

grey, black tanks are up toward the front, fresh water toward the rear on the 25rs.

For my 2009 21RS, the fresh water tank is under the front bunk, so it may depend on the model you choose.

We travel with empty tanks, except for long travel days when I'll leave enough in the fresh tank for any urgent side of the road pitstops. A full fresh water tank would add 200+ lbs to the front of the trailer, which may cause payload to be a concern for you, depending on your TV.

We love our 21RS, good luck with your decision!

Thanks for the input so, hoping a 23RS owner will pop it so we know or sure.
