Toilet noise ?

DH and I were talking about the noise level with the toilet in our almost here 21SS. No it has not been delivered yet but were wondering how much noise is involved with flushing the toilet. Can anyone out there help us out...he says the noise in the rear bunk (closest to the bathroom) would be disturbing to anyone sleeping there. Is this the case?

I think rv toilets in general are noisy and can be heard all over the units. Just the nature of the beasts.

All I can say is you are a very sound sleeper, no one uses the toilet at night or does not flush it.

Honestly, I think the pump is louder than the toilet...that usually vibrates the whole camper on my unit.

That said I sleep in the back bunk of our 08 23ss, next to the toilet and I don't hear it much...

If you don't have background noise, you are more apt to hear the outside noises I think.

Our toilet makes almost no noise. Although I have been told I sleep like the dead.

Depends....

If you are on city water no real noise at all with a Dometic 310. You push the floor pedal water swirls the bowl and down it goes.

If you are on tanks the water pump sounds like a small outta-control jackhammer

You CAN replace the pump with a upgraded one that is more powerful and somewhat quieter. These guys have good pumps and mufflers but there is still gonna be some sound when you are not on city water:

Water System Accessories - SHURflo

Well generally we are on city water, but I don't think our pump is that loud either.

Alright, got my laugh in. I was waiting for someone to refer to toilet noise as the one created by humans. In our case, the 310 is fairly quiet. And then there's me sometimes, not so quiet. Sorry, couldn't help it.

Sounds as though as long as we are on "city" water, which is what we have in our state camp grounds, there should not be a noise issue. Unless it is a "personal" issue that is!
Thanks for all the info.

please don't take this wrong but if toilet flush noise worries you, why did you buy a hybrid?

i guarantee that you'll have more outside noise that'll wake you up, than flushing the toilet will. the tent ends aren't very sound proof.

Yup. The trailer noises should be the LEAST of your concerns.

If someone got on to me for waking them up in the night......I'd either go on their bed or make them sleep outside.

Bikendan- the noise doesn't worry me at all...the question came when I said that the back was mine and DH said that it was his because he was the one that gets up at night and that he didn't want to bother me with the noise. In other words we are fighting over the back bunk! That end of our pop-up was mine always and I want that end in the HTT. Call me a creature of habit, but that is the way it is! Besides, I like to read at night and the back bunk has a wall I can lean on.
