Evening,
Nope, no fans. The odor is noticeable as soon as you walk into the bathroom. Fortunately the smell didn't continue past the bathroom door

Temp fix anyway, at least check that the fixture is securely bolted to the floor. Any looseness could cause smell leaks.

How do they fix toilets with a bad seal that won't hold water? Is it complicated?

Summer,
Have no idea sorry. This is my first camper with a toilet. And you can see that I am learning a lot about them already.
I did find out that we could install any type of RV toilet if we wanted to get rid of Dometic all together.

Did you call Domenic directly or did you call the dealer? I have the same toilet and the same problem, but everyone I have talked to knows of no recall on that toilet.

I found the number to call and they replaced my toilet for free. They will upgrade the toilet for an additional charge. They say they fixed this problem in July of 2013.
Call Dometic Sanitation at 800-321-9886. They will replace it with a Model 310

Last summer my toilet would stink up the camper if I had anything in the black tank. The camper was brand new, and I thought this can't be right. In my research I found that the toilet seal was not holding water, and got a lot of advice about how to take care of the seal. We have a very small window of camping time in the summer months, so we put up with it until they did warrantee work last winter. Turns out there was a pipe or valve leading to the toilet that had loosened up and was letting the water drain, it was an easy fix! The water in the bowl prevents the odor from coming up through the toilet.

2 things, 1) the chemical you put in your black water holding tank may not be a good enough deodorizer. 2) I had a simular problem, cleaned everything black and gra holding tanks, finally I stopped and took a breath.....I had been leaving my gray water tank open, helped to keep the sewer pipe clean and I didn't have to be constantly draining it. Come to find out the only time the smell would come in was when my neighbor drained his tank also he did not use chimicals, (newbe). So after he learned the importance of chimicals, the smell went away. The other thing that happened to me was when I changed from the small bottles of aqua-Chem to bio stuf, what a problem. My dump valve started seriously sticking almost making it impossible to dump abd it did not kill the odor as well. I switched back and those problems went away too. Just a thought from some of mine real expierances. Good luck
