Toilet smell

Morning, new to me 2014 24 IKSS. I read about the smell from the model 300 toilets. I think I have a bad one.
I cleaned the black tank before leaving on first camp trip. Prepped the tank with 2 packets of Walex bio-paks. A couple of days with just me using the system at deer camp a sewer smell started. I cleaned the toilet bowl thinking that was the cause, nope.
I read thru some of the other threads. According to the sticker on the side of the toilet I think I have one of the 300's.
Is this a Dometic issue? And does it transfer to me the new owner?
Or do I just need to eat the cost of toilet replacement?
Thanks for the great info on these forums
Greg

You can call Dometic with your serial number and ask if the recall applies to your unit.

One other thing to check - is the bowl holding water? If not that can cause odor. The seal either needs to be cleaned or replaced.

Morning,
I will call them. Didn't think of that.
Yes the bowl is holding water, so that isn't the issue.
Thanks for that suggestions

Seal at the flange

Try filling your black tank with water until it gets to the point where you can see it up in the toilet, above floor level. If the floor begins to get wet, you need to replace the seal. Real easy to do, but this is pretty much the only way to find out if this is the problem.

Oh, when the water starts to come out onto the floor, run outside and pull the black tank valve.

This will particular test will have to wait.
Didn't consider that the seal could be bad.
You are talking about the seal between the toilet and the floor correct?
Like the wax ring from a house toilet? But not a wax ring.

If the smell is only in the bathroom and you have a lavatory in that bathroom the vent could be bad under that lavatory letting a sewer type smell into the RV. Had that problem in the kitchen area of our RV. Turned out it was the vent in the cabinet under the sink.

I'd have a helper ready to pull the tank lever if it starts to leak. last thing you need ot do is spend time running around the trailer while its soaking into the floor.
you ahve enough of an issue on your hands already - don't need to have a mix of stuff soaking into the wood under the laminate

The fantastic fans are great...just my question: are any of the fans on when you get the "smell"? With no windows open, I found mine would suck the "smell" right into the camper.
