Tongue weight

Good morning, i have a 23 ft shamrock and after weighing the tongue weight disconnecred from TV and without water and with full propane tanks it weighs 710 lbs. I estimate i have 100 lbs gear in front of the axels. The a-frame coupler has a max tongue rating of 700 lbs. I was wondering what other campers tongue weight is and what their coupler is rated for? Thanks.

Do not think I have ever looked at the coupler rating.. Does it change with wd or no wd? I know most receivers do on the tow veh.

It has a 2"ball with a 6000 lb. rating. The weigh would change but the rating would stay the same.

2" on smaller trailers and 2 5/16" on most others.
Don't know of any with 2 3/8".

Rebel, in your previous posts, you said you had a 26' Shamrock.
Which is it? And have you identified which 2002 model it is?
A 26' trailer should have a 2 5/16" ball.
Also, it sure would help if you posted pics of the inside, to help identify what model.

All my posts stated 23 ft . It is a forest river shamrock model 23, with one slideout, one queen bunk and one twin bunk. It has a 2" ball coupler and the gvwr is 4652. I do not know how to attach photos in this forum. When i weighed the tongue weight with a dmv portable scale it read 710 pounds. This is with two full propane tanks and no water. Half of the slideout is located in front of the axels as well as the 5 cf refrigerator. Plus 100 pounds of gear.I am just trying to find out what other owners of a 23 foot early model hybrid tongue weight is.

Thank, Rebel.
That's helps some.
I was confused because 3 of your previous threads stated it was a 26' Shamrock.
Does this 2002 Shamrock look like yours?

So yours has a slideout?
And if you look at the different tent ends, the rear one is much shorter and smaller size it appears to be a twin.

Yes, it looks exactly the same and one slide out. Even the weight capacitys in the description are the same.

A WDH does lift a bunch of pressure off that point but a 10,000# new bolt on coupler is only $82 at etrailer. Is you water tank in front of the axles? If so it will only get worse with water, but maybe better if it is over or behind the axles. At least 700 pounds of tongue on a 5000 pound trailer will tow like a dream.
