We're also a family of 7, 5 kids 10 and under and have a 1500 Suburban LTZ. We slow down on hills, but live in Michigan so that's not really a problem. When we're heading to Florida, we just give ourselves more time and expect to crawl up the mountains.

ETA: We pack light, no water in tanks, and buy food at the campground location. We also have air ride which is nice - when my air compressor is working, I think it went out for the second time in 1 year!

Hi I am Bill, I am thinking about th 233S Roo. I have a 2013 RAM 1500 Quade Cabe ST Sports Pickup truck. When I drive just my truck on interstate I get 20.1 mi to the gl. How much do you get towing the 233s Roo? Thanks for your help. Got a price of 19,500 for new 2014, is that a good price? Sticker price about 25,000 I think?

Likely you'll get half the 20.1 mpg towing.
Maybe a little more.

Getting 20.1 mpg sounds like a pretty high gear ratio.

Normally the lower number gear ratio is not good for towing. Good tow rear ends or usually in the high 3's and low 4's, just the opposite for getting good gas mileage when not towing.

Thanks, then my new truck should be good for towing. I am very happy with the 15 to the gl on local rds and 20.1 on interstate so far. my truck has less than 3000 mi so when it breaks in It should do even better. Bill M

As oc said any ratio higher than a 350 gear ratio will result in a better towing situation bet a lower mpg rating.

Anything lower than a 350 gear ratio results in a less than desirable tow situation but result in a higher mpg rating.

I expect like f1100turbo said you may have a high ratio rear end lowering your tow capacity. You did not say 2wd or 4wd and it also effect it some. 2013 1500 QC Sport should be a 5.7L. The 2wd starts with a 3.21:1 ratio = 6,800 tow limit. The 3.55:1 2wd option = 8850 TL and 4wd = 8,600 With optional 3.92:1 2wd = 10,350 while 4wd = 10,100 tow limit.
