Trimetric 2030-RV Installation

I just installed the monitor in our 23WS, and the B1 Volts reading is 9.7. Started out at 10.1 an hour ago. I just plugged it into the house about 20 minutes ago, and it's going from 9.7 to 9.8. However, the RV battery reading says it's fully charged. I double checked the installation, and I think it's correct, but I'm not trusting these readings. The amps readings are all over the place too...from 40 unplugged to now at 100 plugged in. There can't be that many phantom draws, can there? Can anybody tell if I made an installation mistake? Thanks in advance!

I'm thinking the B1+ wire with the fuse might be on the wrong battery? The diagrams don't show my exact battery configuration...

I switched the wire, and the volts are at 13.7 and the amps at 147 (plugged in). I guess my question now is how to interpret the amp reading. What does it mean exactly?

B+ is on the wrong battery, it goes all the way to the right on the red lead marked positive. Orange should go to SIG on the terminal strip The other two leads should go to G1 and g2 on the strip.

If you have installed a 100 amp shunt, you need to change the setting otherwise the unit will tell you that the current is 5x what it really is. there is a setting to change to a 100 amp unit. If this is the issue, you don't have 147 amps, you have more like 30.

Yeah, I moved the B+ and the volts look correct now. I'm using a 500 amp shunt. I've seen YouTube videos with the amps showing a negative number representing the draws. I'm not seeing that though. If you have an explanation for the amp reading, that would be great. Thanks!

I checked the wires into the monitor, and it turns out my screwdriver was too big (making me think the screws were all the way in), and one of the wires came loose. Anyway, now the amps say .2, which is more like it! But I turned on everything I could, and that didn't change. Hmmm...

If you are hooked up to shore power the converter will supply all the DC current. Unplug the AC cord and you should see a few amps draw.

I just realized I was still plugged into the house. Unplugged, and the amps are working as they should.

When connecting 2 batteries in parallel you need to connect the two negatives together and the two positives together. This will give you the 12vdc you want but the current output will be the total of both batteries. So if you are not connected to shore power, your 12vdc will last twice as long as just one battery. Per your picture, you will need to add another wire between the two positives. If you just move the red wire over to the positive of the other battery, the battery to the left will not be in circuit and all of your current draw will come from the battery on the right.

I'm a novice, but it's my understanding that you want to connect two 6v batteries in series, not parallel. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

You never said 12V or 6V, so I think theengle assumed they were 12V.

If they are 6V and if you've rotated one 180 degrees, then it looks like you've got them properly in series.

they are correctly in series...and clearly each are 6 volt units since they only have 3 cells.

My bad, I thought they were 12v batteries that you trying to connect in parallel. Since they are 6v batteries you do need to put them in series, the positive of the left battery should be connected to the negative of the right battery.
