Turtling Question

Haven't actually traveled far enough to have an overnight stop yet but would think that we would want to leave everything hooked and closed up. On our V lite we have a door right into our bedroom and the bathroom is accessible so leaving slides in wouldn't be a big problem and all this would make leaving in the morning that much easier to get an early start. Most of the time when we do go camping the night before we go home we pack most everything up to make it easier in the morning.

So, clearly, "turtling" is a very subjective thing. Too bad we don't have Crackerbarrel out here. I'm not sure Starbucks would allow me to park overnight. ;-)

I've done that. Even left it hooked up to the truck since the site was level.

I've also done that the night before leaving a site so i can get out ASAP in the AM for a long drive home.

We spent one night at a KOA this summer when we arrived late, about 10:30pm and had to be on the road by 6:00am. We opened both slides but neither bunk. We have 3 kids which two slept on the dinette one on the couch and my wife and I slept on the mattress on the floor from the front bunk. We did not unhook from vehicle. We did hook up electricity and water but nothing else. It was the worst sleep I have had in our Roo. 😔

As a sidebar has anyone turtled in bear country or places like Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone where soft sided RVs are not allowed?

in the 12 years i've been on various hybrid forums, i've read a number of posts from hybrid owners who have.

we avoided FB when we went to Yellowstone, not because of their no canvas camper policy but because it's a parking lot campground. the sites are WAY too tight between neighbors.

it's not the kind of campground we like, ESPECIALLY in a National Park. we preferred the other campgrounds, like Madison/Canyon/Grant.

it ain't worth having hookups, to stay there, IMHO.

Thanks for the tip. I stayed at Grant and we were not particularly impressed with that campground either. Our campsite was a wide spot in the road.

we had a large, beautiful and private site at Grant, at the end of a loop. but we had made reservations way before, so we got a number of choices before they released the other open ones to those who hadn't.
