I just tried my furnace for first time in my driveway to make sure it works for upcoming camping trip. CO detector went off. Is this normal, is there just some initial burn off of residue? Alarm went off after I turned on fans to clear air and furnace still running.
Perfectly normal. Most folks will open all windows and vents when they fire it up the first time. It is burning off the manufacturing oils. Let it burn for at least 30 minutes, let it cool off and then fire it up again for another 30 minutes and you should be good to go. Set the thermostat to at least 80 and let it shut off by itself, cool to about 60 if possible and then turn it on again.
You should have been informed of this, during your PDI.

I had to check where you were located, checking out the "furnace" it is 95 degrees here today, I don't think we need a furnace today. Have a great camp out
