Warped Sink Cover Cutting Board

I purchased a 2016 Roo19 last summer. As with many first time RV owners, I didn't know everything to look for during the dealership PDI walkthrough. After bringing my new rig home, I noticed the white plastic kitchen sink cover had a 1/2 inch bow in it that doesn't allow it to sit flush with the sink. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can flatten it out to get it to sit flush? I suppose I could try a heat gun to try and flatten it out but I'm concerned about melting it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Fly Navy!!!

I'd try supporting each end and putting a weight in the middle for a day or so and see what happens. If it doesn't stay flat, maybe shot some heat to it.

a lot of us have found that the sink covers are almost useless as cutting boards and replaced them with other ideas, .... I found a youtube video of a 2015 model and the sink in it appears to match what we have in our trailer,... below is the link to a post of a very simple idea that gives added counter space and can use any cutting board that you prefer,...... hope this helps

Outside on a warm sunny day, support each ends, put some weight in the center and let the sun do the work

I have the same issue, but mine matches the counter. I will be replacing it with a wood cutting board. Ours was not meant to be a cutting board. I use the sink when traveling to put my fruit in to keep it from bouncing around getting bruised. If I can find a cutting board large enough, I will have my husband cut it so it is the same shape of the sink.

Sink cover

Had this problem when I got my 21 VFB home. Put the sink cover under mattress and left it there until went camping. It fit fine.

Warped sink cover

I put mine on upside down with three full water bottles in the midddle. Left it that way for a few days and it is fine again. Whenever we are not camping I just turn it upside down. When on the road I turn it over. I just want it to stay in place while we are moving and when extra counter space is needed.

I have the same issue. I will put in the sun with weights on it to flatten again.

X2 - worked for ours. On the patio table with a big weight in the middle and a couple of days in full sun.

But we would probably only use it if we really needed more counter space. (An unlikely situation in a 23IKSS)

Just got to store it flat somewhere instead of on edge in a cabinet - which probably caused the problem in the first place.

I think these cutting boards come warped from the factory. Instead of trying to straighten it out I made a new one from 1/2" material. I started by tracing the form onto the new stock and cutting it out.

Then routed groove on back side for tight fit

Then cut in half so I can still use the sink

and finally cut the finger holes

This board is very sturdy no movement or bend at all.

We got a 2016 shamrock 233s when we did the PDI we noticed ours was bowed too, now after opening the camper for spring it's bowed again, so I'll just have the dealer replace it under warranty again .

FR told our dealer that these things warp due to being inside hot RVs. Replacing it with another just like it simply means that one will warp, too.

We're going to replace it with something far sturdier and more useful, as did 1982 Ironhead.

Awesome. That is just what I was thinking except in wood. What type of plastic did you use and is it safe to use as a cutting board?

Warped Sink Cover Cutting Board

It is actually a winco cutting board I bought on eBay. Winco 18 inch by 24 inch by 1/2 inch white cutting board made of polyethylene plastic with a non-porous surface that won't stain or absorb juices. Dishwasher safe and NSF certified.

Take the factory sink cover/cutting board, wrap it in plastic, such as a kitchen bag, to keep it dust free, then place it flat somewhere up in your garage attic, only pull it back down when you sell or trade in your Roo. That's where mine is located currently

*That custom job by Ironhead looks amazing. Adding that to my future mods list.

I just took the cover out of it's flat storage place and found that it was back to the same useless shape. The dang thing has a memory!

Well. It's gettin' stored with the mattress we don't use and the next owner will have the pleasure of figuring out what to do with it.

Mine stays under the sink, don't use it as it is worthless, buy yourself a good cutting board instead.
