Water age in Water Heater

How often should I drain the water heater? Will water mold after a week or so? Looking for a rule of thumb on good water hygiene and system care during the summer, will be in use just about every weekend between now and October. Thanks

That much use shouldn't be a problem. In 7 years and 2 different rigs, I never drain my water heater except to sanitize and winterize.

Your water and WH will be fine if left between weekend trips this summer. I typically drain mine if I have a month between trips. No real reason for that except that its what I do.

Some people drain more frequently because of the quality of their water and they want to make the anode rod last longer. This is not an issue at my house, though. My WH's anode is above 75% going on 4 years.

I fill mine in the spring and drain it in late fall.
One time in 10 years it went sour and smelled like rotten eggs.
I'll risk it. We don't drink the hot water anyway....
