Just put a water filter cap on the canister and reinstall it. No anti freeze goes in.

See my photo and link in the "other thread" running on this same subject.

After my filter blew up in my camper, I took it out. Same thing happened to my father in law two weeks later. Those filters are a ticking time bomb.

Now I use an external filter. Cheaper and easier to replace too!

Delete the factory filter and use an external filter. Mine self-destructed in its second season and luckily I was right there to dry it out and prevent permanent damage. It’s not worth the risk to your camper when these break and cause quick flooding. With an in-line external filter, a filter failure is just a wet driveway or campsite! There is no extra step with winterizing when the filter is deleted.

What broke? If water pressure is that high I'd suspect damage to the plumbing system as a whole. Pressure regulator is recommended.

Too many similar threads running in different areas.

Water filter block-off plate. <-- that's a link to one source.

No wasted RV antifreeze.

Nothing more than a stainless steel plate and rubber gasket.

Actually , this is a another good idea. I don't see any reason that it cannot be just left in and use an external filter instead. I've gotten into the habit of using the external filter on the spigot before the hose .

I changed from the standard filter to a residential one and it has a bypass mode so should just be a drain operation and no extra antifreeze

Thanks, Chuck. I will get one of these and use it in a few days when I winterize my unit.

Installed this filter in place of the factory unit. To replace the filter it swings up from the bottom then pull out. When you swing it up it is in bypass.

Where is that filter located on your rig?

It’s in the same cabinet as the factory unit was, just moved a little it needs the door space to swing out. Click image for larger version

It’s a whole house filter, the replacement cartridge is $49 but I am pretty sure I can get a year out of it. No worrying of the bottom is screwed on tight enough or if it will pop off.

In the 27VRL it’s under the street side bathroom sink, the sink closer to the toilet.

That makes a whole lot more sense that where most of them are located in trailers these days.
