water filter
What are you using to replace the water filter that came in the Roo? I have a 2013 21SS and was wondering. Do you just go to Lowes and get something like this?

You will find many threads on this site on this topic. FR had the filter canister designed just for them: This means you can only get a cartridge from them: This means paying twice as much as its worth. Do what many of us have done and replace the whole filter assembly with a standard canister so that you can use readily available filters.

That's what I'm probably going to do this winter when I winterize it, I'll run on the factory filter this season. That or I'll take the filter out, screw the base back on and not worry about it. I've made it 41 years without a filter, odds are it won't kill me.

Thanks. I did not know that. I will probably look to change mine out too then. I'm camping this weekend so will take a look at it.

I use both internal and external filters ( Camco) because the well water at home and at some of the parks we go to have a high iron content so the external one that I use (100micron) removes that for me while the better filter within the trailer (1 micron) does the rest of the job.
However, others just use an external filter. Make sure that it filters what you want, though.
Water Filter Filtration
My trailer's OEM water filter is a Water Pur CCI-10-CLW Clear Water Filter Housing and uses a CCI-10-C filter. Everything in standard 10" length will work in that housing. What you want is a low micron cyst filter with as high a flow (in GPM) as you can get. I've bought the F1 model from this place before... RV Water Filter Store: Standard Filter Canisters for Whole RV

Are the lines in the Roos the same as Pex pipe that is used in homes now?

water filter
I'm not sure because my house was built in 1981. However, assuming PEX is PEX, than I'd imagine the difference is the diameter.

unless something has changed since we got our Roo, the water filter from the factory, uses standard cartridges and i bought our replacement at Lowes.
this is the first time i've heard of it being a special filter built just for FR.

Dan,
not sure if the Roo has the same filter as the class A's but FR changed the filter sometime after '08. My '08 had a filter cartridge that I could purchase at Lowes but my '14 has the special filter cartridge that it seems can only be bought from FR.

I agree, Dan. AFAIK most filters in standard 10" length will work in the OEM housing. It needs to have holes in the bottom and top to fit in the housing IIRC.

You may be right about that, Tom. I honestly cannot remember if I tried a standard with my current trailer. Anyone want to buy one and check it out?

This has happened in the last 2 or 3 years as I understand it. My cartridge has a nipple at the top with an o-ring on it. It is not flat on each end like a normal cartridge. I have the new canister on the way to change it out.

Grege,
That is exactly the cartridges that I bought 2 years ago to use in my 233S. Worked just fine.
