Water filter

Okay with the thread about the water filter bowls unscrewing themselves I'm now a little worried. So I want to have a repair kit ready to go. What do I need if I want to just bypass the filter of it becomes a problem. Is it just 1/2" inside diameter pex piping and a couple barbed fittings that I would need to remove the filter and connect the input and output lines?

That is exactly what I did with mine never put water thru it after reading the problems others had just took it out and put in pipe with shark byte fittings. Then I us the same filter externally.

Can I get the parts just to bypass at home depot? I just want to take it off and put on a pipe for now, worry about configuring an external filter later!!

Home Depot or Lowes, ACE might have them.
Pull the filter housing out and take it with you so you get the right size, explain what you want to do someone should get you lined out.

It should have 1/2 male pipe thread going into the filter. Mine did on my 233s. I replaced with a GE water filter. Holds tight.

If yours does you should be able to use a couple of 1/2 threaded couplers and a threaded pipe.

I agree. If your going to the trouble and expense of bypassing why not just replace it like I did and you can use a standard filter.

The reason I went the route I did is because I like knowing that whatever I put in the tank will not have odor and will be protected from cysts and bacteria with the filters I get. I am not always on a city connection.

Question... the general consensus is to get rid of the factory water filter. No problem with that. But as I looked for other options, it got me to thinking. If I use an inline Camco style water filter on the hose coming into the camper, that will do a good enough job for the sinks, shower & toilet. So for drinking/cooking, what about installing a sink filter / faucet combo at the kitchen sink? Like one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Culligan-RV-EZ.../dp/B002Q0XSNS

The hardest part would be making the hole in the sink. Anyone tried this in their Roo/Shamrock? I've got a 23IKSS so installing it in the island cabinet would be a breeze as long as I can get the hole in the sink. The filters look easy to change and they have several different filters available depending on how much bad stuff you want to eliminate.

Do you want it in place of the factory one or would you rather have it outside where it can not leak in the trailer?

Inside the trailer right where it is now.. That looks like a pretty good idea though. Are you afraid of rocks hitting the plastic shells and cracking them?

Not mine, the one hanging on the trailer does come off so hitting anything is a non issue note the quick disconnect couplers.
I posted them to show what can be done beside having it inside.
