Does your filter housing have a label like olwalker's. That will give you a model number for an exact replacement.

You can do a search of the forum for lots of opinions on what to use. Also review this website https://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com.

Here's my opinion... Research what levels of filtration are available and decide what level you want, if any. Then buy what fits your personal needs. Also consider moving the housing outside so it's easier to change filters and a leak or spill won't dump water into your Roo.

Original is not cheap but usually has a higher flow rate than aftermarket filters. If you buy an aftermarket just make sure you look at the flow rate as it will decrease your water flow considerably.
Flow Pur: Genuine WaterPur CCI-10-Ca Cartridge

As long as I'm not using the onboard pump, this one works fine for me:

My 233S's OEM water filter is a Water Pur CCI-10-CLW Clear Water Filter Housing (as pictured above) and uses a CCI-10-C filter. Everything in standard 10" length should work in that housing AFAIK.

What you want is a low micron cyst filter with as high a flow (in GPM) as you can get. I've bought the F1 model from this place before... RV Water Filter Store: Standard Filter Canisters for Whole RV

I also use an external filter (Camco) because the well water at home and at some of the parks we go to have a high iron content so the external one that I use (100micron) removes that for me while the better filter within the trailer (1 micron) does the rest of the job.

However, others just use an external filter. Make sure that it filters what you want, though. See this resource... Water Filter Filtration

Is it typically a bad idea to have your water filter in place when sterilizing your tank and lines?

I would remove it while sterilizing.

While de-winterizing and sterilizing, my factory filter started doing the dreaded self-unscrewing. I had always been amazed at past posts about these unscrewing themselves until I witnessed it myself twice. I removed the filter and replaced it with a push-fit hose on the pex so I can always easily remove and replace with another filter system onboard if I wish. Instead, I bought Whirlpools' inline exterior hose mount filter to filter the water as it is being pumped into the tank or in the city water hose instead of taking chances with flooding the camper.

I had bought a spare filter for the camper when we picked it up new, and would be glad to sell it, as the factory filter housing is already at the dump. PM me if interested.

In the last two RVs I have removed the filter system and hooked the lines back up. Think about it. Do you want a stagnate water pocket sitting in you camper
with old water that might stay there for a couple of weeks or more before you
use the camper again? And time to winterize, it fills up with antifreeze that must be flushed out, maybe? I do not worry about filtering water when camping. I have more fun things to do. IMO, If you are worried about filtered water, use a portable filter on your water hookup.

Earlier in this thread I was excited about installing it and using it. But then had it unscrew in our first trip and flood the camper. Removing it is our next mod.
