Water Filter Unit Removal on 21BD

I want to remove the water filter unit. I have a question about removing
the hose clamps. It looks like they are clamped on, and I am not sure if
they are removable and usable again, or if I need to cut the hoses and then
get new clamps. If they are removable, How do you get them off?

Thanks for any help.

They are probably PEX crimp rings and if so, not reusable. They can be removed by cutting one the crimp 'ears' with diagonal cutters and replaced with a ring clamp. On my rig, one side was PEX and the other side reinforced vinyl. I cut the one on the reinforced vinyl, which is more pliable than PEX. I could then slip the barb out of the vinyl hose, unscrew the fitting from the filter head and then unscrew the filter head from the other fitting still clamped by its PEX ring. Then I screwed an appropriate coupling on the fitting I didn't remove, screwed the removed fitting into the other end of the coupling, slipped the barb back into the vinyl pipe and applied the ring clamp.

The area of PEX that was Crimped should NOT be reused! Cut the Pex and insert Proper pex Fittings and Crimp sleeves or use Sharkbite fitting. Rent the tools for Pex install! Youroo!!

I no longer have a Hybrid but I have a water filter in my Micro-Lite 23lb. Not sure if this would work on your filter, but here's a link to how I bypassed my filter:

True - PEX has almost no elasticity compared to vinyl which means it takes a 'set' where the inside barb ridges and outside crimp ring depression were and that will be a recipe for leakage. That's why I was pleasantly surprised that one side was vinyl on my rig.

PEX and PEX crimping is so much faster (when done right) which is why they use it on the assembly line - even the vinyl line was PEX-ring-crimped which I'm not sure is such a good idea. Too bad good tools are so expensive.

Just to be pedantic, that is a coupler... says so right on the receipt. A union is a fitting that has two halves brought together by a threaded ring. OC has a picture of the one he used in a similar thread.

I used sharkbite fitting because my filter housing ruptured in the field and that is the quickest way to fix it. Kudos to you for addressing the problem before it happens. Looking back , I wish I had.

Why are you removing? The risk of leakage?

This is the third camper I have removed the water filter. I don't like
the idea of a filter vessel holding water getting stagnant if I don't use
it for a month or more. Also, when time to winterize, I don't want to
have to remove the filter element, dump the water out and pump antifreeze
back through the replaced filter unit. Then you have to dump the antifreeze out in the spring and hope you flush with enough water to clean the system. Then remove the filter unit and put in another filter. The new filters a not cheap. I never use a filter. If you think filtering is important, they make filters that you
attach to your hose before entering the camper. IMO.

My GE Whole House Filter has never leaked a drop in th 7 years I've had it installed (sweats a bit being in the basement of my house). Uses sharkbites over copper pipe. The WaterPur filter housing broke (canister unscrews on its own) on second use and flooded the camper.
