I have a 2014 23IKSS and it has a switch on the water heater to chose gas or electric. I always put it on electric when I have the power.

Mine is both, as stated the switch on the heater is for the electric element. There is also a DSI switch in side for the gas burner. Both can be used at the same time if shore power is available.

YES.

didn't the dealer go over that with you during the PDI?
if not, shame on that dealer! that's a basic thing that all PDI's should go over.

I would think if I were buying a new rv and had never had one similar to it or one at all, I would ask questions on how does this or that work and take notes on and ask questions on any unfamiliar item. How does this refrigerator work, what is this electrical panel do, how do the slides work, entertainment center, how do I hook up the television, what do I do with the waste water, where does the toilet dump, etc., show me how etc. Not all the blame goes to the dealer as he has no idea the buyers knowledge.

I gotta say the tech that did ours at Tom Johnson was great. The only thing we really missed was the furnace but it was hot that day and never thought about it. The only issue I may have is remembering all the steps for winterizing it since we went over it in May and I probably won't do it till after Thanksgiving:-)

If you have the propane/electric Suburban brand water heater, this FAQ may help:

Suburban's electric switch and much more
